I know I should be thinking about the SCF right now but this idea came to me and I'm curious about what others think about it.

Hawks Trade: Versteeg

Pens trade: 1st rounder and middling prospect

The Hawks get cap relief and 2 younger players while the Pens get a talented winger to play with Crosby.

I don't really see Versteeg as a "sniper", he's a creative little waterbug out there. Don't get me wrong, there's plenty of times that would like to have Versteeg, but I just don't know if he's a great fit with Crosby.

Fair enough, I definetly think he is better than what Crosby is working with now. His shot is a little better than you would think as well.

Oh I agree, and I wouldn't be surprised if Pittsburgh came calling. At the same time, I think there will quite possibly be better offers for Versteeg.

I'm not sure sure about that based on the cap situation the hawks have. Everyone knows they are gonna have to unload some players. Also I have no clue what the Pens cap situation is.

As a pens fan i would rather have Sharp....

15 players signed for next year to the tune of $45 million.
Not a heck of a lot of room left to fill out the roster.
They also have only 3 d-men under contract, to that should be priority

Really? I think if you can get a 1st rounder and a prospect for Sharp, you've done quite well. He's not exactly a spring chicken anymore.

Edit: Hmmm, for some reason I thought Sharp was in his mid 30's but he's just about to turn 30. I still stand by the 1st rounder and prospect would still be a good deal for Chicago for Sharp.

I think Sharp is a significantly better player than Versteeg so ya I think he is worth more. Also is the Pens are close to the Cap like im hearing Sharp is around a mil more than versteeg.

Edit also Sharp turns 29 in december
