Thoughts?

Fits the scheme? Maybe, Doesn't matter, he's a stud!
Approaching the end of career, not really, but he is getting older, me too.
Would cost too much. Heard 1 & 3, also heard a 2nd. Weird.
Don't need him, we are set!
Stay set at #26, and pick a guy that we ALL say.....Who? May work, but WHO? Clark anyone?

Hey, just looking forward to another GREAT NFL presentation, the NFL Draft.

I'll be watching. Make us even more proud JS.

I wouldn't mind trading for him. I love the guy, but he's at best got 4-5 years left in him, and the level of play could drop off rather quickly. 1st &3rd are too much. I'd do a 2nd and maybe a later round pick (5-7) next year, but not a 1st.

Another situation that could be interesting is Josh Norman. Now, I know this wouldn't ever happen - but imagine Norman, Sherman outside and Lane inside - sweet. Unfortunately, only a handful of teams have the cap space to pay Norman what would be fair market value - and Seattle isn't one of them (not even close) - but it would be interesting to see the defensive backfield for one season with that set up.

I don't think we have the cap to make any major moves.

Yeah, going off the top of my head, overthecap has it there, I'm about to crash and too lazy to look it up today, but thinking if they moved a 2nd or 3rd, they'd have enough cap space currently for their draft class. So basically any other taking on of salary would need reworking/releasing players.

I would love to have Joe Thomas anchor the line but it seems like a pipe dream. The only thing about this story/rumor is the fact that Cleveland and Seattle has been linked to this on more then one occasion throughout the off season. Who knows, but maybe this pipe dream could become true come draft time.

The cap problem has solutions, but don't think the Seahawks are interested the high cost of trading for Joe Thomas and the taking on his contract. JS loves this draft, if anything he wants more picks this year, not trade them for a player like in the past couple of drafts. :2cents:

Cap considerations aside, from Deon Branch to Sidney Rice to Percy Harvin to Jimmy Graham, trading our top pick for a high profile player hasn't worked out as well as we hoped. (Not calling the Graham trade a failure, but year 1 wasn't what we hoped for.) Maybe it would be different with a lineman vs a receiver, but if this draft is truly as deep as JS thinks it is, seems like the best value with that 1.26 (and maybe some of the following picks) is to us it to acquire more picks in the middle rounds.

If the Hawks could make the cap work out, I would be all-aboard for them moving their 1st and a late round pick for Thomas. I am very scared of what their O-Line is going to look like on the field this fall, and their is not guarantees with that 1st round pick.

It seems we either trade down or trade our pick for a player, so this would not surprise me but would be pretty irritating. We already have 9 picks, we should just take the BPA at 26.

Draft picks are the coin of the realm. Even if we have 9 currently, collect some more and we may be able to use them to move up in a round and grab a guy we really like, such as how we got Tyler Lockett.

$5,313,186 is our cap space (27th in the NFL).

Joe Thomas will make 9,500,000 in 2016 ALONE(with insentives) (Joe Thomas )

Don't get me wrong. I like big Joe and think he will help our issues in the trenches but to sign him and our Draft class...............

We be in Cap Hell

Seattle has made it pretty well known that they don't value protection as much as other teams. They place an emphasis on run game and scheme to deliver the ball.

I expect Seattle to spend most of their picks on defense this draft. I don't see any 1st round trades in place for Joe Thomas or any offensive lineman for that matter.

Much as I hate the idea, I think it's Rankins or trade back. Don't agree that don't value protection, as much as they don't believe OL draft choices can provide much. The quality of OL has been terrible for a few years, with these spread offenses that has the QB going 1,2 3 throw or run. OL really doesn't learn how to really pass block in the NFL.

If Rankins isn't there, I'm still rooting for Ifedi. Doesn't impress as a run blocker, but actually looks like he can pass block. Not to say he fantastic as a pass blocker, but it seems to be his strength.
