This is really head-scratching for me. At worst Drummond is DAJ with a better interior game (probably slightly less post defense). Considering he just got locked up to a new deal I can't really understand why Detroit would want to move him. Of course if they got a god-father offer, that's different, but just really weird to me.

NBA trade rumors: Celtics, Clippers reportedly discussed Blake Griffin deal
“[The Celtics] have talked intermittently with the Clippers about Blake Griffin in recent weeks, per several league sources, but a deal is extremely unlikely. Griffin will be a free agent this summer, and Boston would probably need official permission to talk to him about his future -- a concession Minnesota allowed Cleveland before the Kevin Love trade. The Clips would ask for a bounty, starting with Jae Crowder and one of the Avery Bradley/Marcus Smart duo, plus picks, per league sources.”

I was just about to post a trade idea about the Celtics, lol.

If the Celtics offered Amir Johnson, Jaylen Brown, Terry Rozier, James Young and the second of Brooklyn's 1st round picks, who says no to the offer?

Ainge. But if that 2018 is Bostons pick 1 then yes

I don't wanna think about the C's with Drummond without giving up much. I mean they would have to give up Brown but if they didn't have to give up Bradley, Smart or Crowder. Wow

Whats crazy is if the rumor that Det offered Drummon for Cousins and they passed up? Wholly fucking shit Vlade, he still had the fucker for one more offseason and one more trade deadline.

I really think the Celtics should keep Rozier. He makes them more dynamic for their second unit. Btw they have room for a contract like that? Isnt Drummond on a new deal?

I bet you could get a lot more for perhaps "the most dominant center in the league" lol......

its just such bad luck that Ennis and Napier didnt work out- those guys had STAR POWER written all over them.

Oh well- the search for Dwade's replacement continues- maybe sometime this or next decade the Heat will get an elite talent again.

Drummonds deal right now is 22M this year. They Celtics do have enough to match contracts, largely because they have Amir Johnsons 12M in expiring contract to return. Add in a few more players and you can easily get to the 20M necessary for the trade.

Makes no sense though if Ainge didn't pull the trigger on this. If they didn't have to part with Crowder, Bradley, IT, Smart and Horford and still bring on Drummond, that's ateam that can legit compete for a championship.

Notice how its all centers

Brook Lopez, Drummond, Okafor on the block.

No one wants a center that cant switch and cant shoot.

I think that's cherry picking a bit.

Lopez is Brooklyn's only real trade chip right now and they're trying to rebuild. So clearly they don't need him which is why he's on the block.

Okafor is basically an after thought now with the Sixers because of Embiid.

Drummond is the real head scratcher for me.

But the thing all of those 3 have in common is that they don't have the right players around them to compliment their game. Lopez needs a Faried type 4, to hustle, grab boards and do the dirty work. Okafor would the need the same, but he's being moved mostly because he's one dimensional.

Drummond needs a PG who can incorporate him in the pick and roll and/or be willing to get him the ball in the post. He's getting limited touches on a team because Reggie dominates it so often. I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that if he was on the Clippers instead of DAJ, he would be putting up close to 20 a game. He's clearly got an inside game, but it's so under-utilized to pair with his freak athleticism.
