A lot closer than first look both have 129 OPS+. Murray has a lead in OPS of .866 to .863. Murray had the power and Olerud had the BA.

I remembered that Olerud went directly from the draft to the Bigs, but I had forgotten (never knew??) that he was a 3rd rounder.

How in the hell does a guy who is MLB-ready last til the third round??

I am personally of the belief that Murray is near the bottom of the HOF-spectrum.

But Olerud is firmly in the middle of the HOVG-spectrum.

Olerud had 1 season where he finished top-10 in MVP voting. Murray had 8.

Olerud had 8 seasons with a 120 OPS+. Murray had 14.

Murray holds the career record for SFs.

If it were a closer battle, A couple of Murrays seasons would be DQd because he was a DH, but this one is not close enough for the little bit that Murray ventured away from 1B.

Olerud had an incredible sophomore year and was selected an All-American at both 1B and pitcher. Near the start of his junior (draft) season he suffered a brain hemorrhage caused by an aneurysm that was later discovered. He had surgery and came back to play a little bit at the end of the season but (unsurprisingly) didn't have the same kind of success he'd had as a sophomore, and so he told MLB teams not to draft him as he was planning to return for his senior year and show that he was still the best college player in the country. The Jays took a chance in the 3rd round anyway and were able to get him signed.
