Cap been going up up up, expect it to flatten out, maybe starting now.
Just the projected amount of $168 million. I have no concrete numbers on next year's cap - so for the moment, I am using that.
It was a week or two ago I read cap to go up roughly 10mil but nothing solid.
Yeah, the $168 # is 13 higher than this year's roughly $155. If the cap stagnates - which is possible with the ratings issues and such the league had this year - the numbers aren't even as good as I posted earlier.

The ratings are down but sales of merchandise are probably still up. If the NFL took a compete loss then I can see your numbers much lower. Hopefully a big enough increase to be able to land a o-line vet and sign our guys as needed.
The NFL signs the deals for a # of years, and the networks are committed to paying that money. So the only way that the NFL loses money is down the road, if after taking a bath on ratings, the networks are unwilling to sign as big of a deal next time.
But again, ALL audiences (movie, tv, pretty much any entertainment) are becoming increasingly fragmented, so it would take a BIG prolonged dip in ratings for people to decide to abandon pro sports advertising buys in favor of something else.
But there's no short term hit for the NFL. If the ratings dip 6% this year, they still get 100% of their money.
True, hard to lose money when ESPN pays 100 mil to show one game. Hou vs Oak, ouch.
Right, and even ESPN knows that they're probably still going to be just fine.
Where's Mercedes going to go to reach 20 million weekly viewers in the sweet spot male with disposable income demographic?
The hoop?
Heh.
TV is still the behemoth in wide stream non niche marketing. And the NFL pulls in eyeballs like nobody's business.
Were they down a bit this year? Sure, but which industries/products weren't?

I'm curious to know what drove that after the season... Was Direct TV, Comcast, etc down in subscriptions? Netflex, Amazon, etc taking more of that market share? The NFL product not what it use to be?
Dan Jereimah has us taking a CB from Bama. Marlon Humphrey
A CB wouldn't surprise me too much with the down year Lane had and playoff injury to Shead. A D-lineman wouldn't be a surprise either. Bennett & Avril both in their 30s, and we were at our best up front a few years ago when we were deep with the rotation.
