Yeah, but he hung around for a while this winter, and went for pennies on the dollar I think

He sure did. The Sox badly miss a bat like that this year. He would have had the best year of anyone on the team. Maybe they worried about him and Hanley being redundant? Maybe they underestimated how weak the offense would be without Ortiz? Weird team this year built on speed and pitching. I can't remember them ever being built like this before. I'm a little surprised it's worked(so far).

Same here. I've been saying for a while that I thought they were the 4th best team in the AL. The lineup has been atrocious. Nobody has overachieved. It doesn't help that Farrell is awful, too. And, yet, they remain on top. I guess it's all the Chris Sale effect?

Up until the last few starts, I told Rock he is the runaway MVP

At the all-star break they didn't really even have an all-star outside of Sale and Kimbrel. Mookie has had a good year, but even he is off from last season. Sale has been rocky recently, but he's still the MVP of the team. I'm just not sure how well "small ball" will play in the postseason.

Who's Phillip Dorsett anyway? My NFL interest is basically limited to just the Pats now and I can't even watch them anymore now that I get all the Chargers and Rams games.

of course anything can happen, but this feels so much like a Stros/Indians collision course

Which sucks, cause in a lot of years, the Yanks and Sox would be good enough to meet in the ALCS

Those 2 teams just stand out this year

Agreed. I do think the Astros can be beat, though. They peaked so early in the year and that pitching is suspect after Keuchel. I know Verlander helps a lot, but he's not nearly as scary as he used to be. I can't imagine anyone taking out Cleveland from the AL.

Ahhh! Very nice. I'm still in baseball mode anyway. I haven't watched any college or pro football yet(other than the dreadful season opener for the Pats). If you were stuck with Chargers & Rams games, you wouldn't watch either! Lol.

What a terrible idea to give LA 2 teams no one cares about

Both teams are dead on arrival. Nobody gives a shit. LA is a Lakers town first...then USC Football...then the Dodgers. Pro football barely even registers. The Chargers couldn't even sell out a soccer stadium with 27k seats on Sunday. The Coliseum looked empty for the Rams. In fact, USC drew more fans on Saturday than the Chargers and Rams got COMBINED on Sunday! Ouch.

3 catches for 68 yards merits a thread?

ahhh, Grays Yankee ERA was 2.66 before his last rough start

Between him and Severino, thats pretty good for the next 5 years, and build around that
Tom Brady played baseball so did a lot of Patriot players.
:tj:

I had to check if this was the baseball or football forum? Someone here just recently was all up in arms about threads being jacked.
What a difference a day makes.
