As bad as the Big Ten is this season it wouldn't be a shock if no B1G team makes it to the Sweet 16 of the Dance.
I actually think this is going to be a year where the B10 ends up being looked at as "underrated" by the time the tourney is over . If only 4 teams get in all 4 are S16 caliber imo . Wouldn't shock me at all to see all 4 get to the second weekend or further .

This whole week early nonsense is insane. Just so they can play in NYC?
So the tournament teams sit around for 2 weeks before the tournament begins?

Nebraska wins today and I can't see them not getting in at 13-5 in the Big Ten.

13-5 doesn't mean anything given the league schedule they played. And on top of that they played a terrible OOC schedule and have one Q1 win. A win today MIGHT give them a chance to make it if they lost in the final

They really got screwed with the scheduling. They only got to play the top 4 teams in the Big Ten once. And 3 of those on the road which they lost all of. Won the home game.

Lost to Kansas by 1. Only other team out of conference they played worth a damn was Creighton and they lost.

But if Joe Lunardi is going to list Penn State as a bubble team and closer to getting in than Nebraska, then beating Penn State should account for something.

It will count for something, which might make it possible for them to make the B1GT final and make it, but that would only get them 1 more win against a team in the field.

And you can say they got screwed by the scheduling, but it also could have prevented them from getting 3 more losses.

They really don't have anybody to blame but themselves if they don't make it. They scheduled like crap OOC, and in their early season tournament they lost to a UCF team who at best will make the NIT, so they then got stuck in the losers bracket playing Marist and Long Beach State. Had they won they would have played WVU instead of Marist.

You really think it'll be considered underrated? The top 4 are obviously good, but no different than any other P5 conference, minus the Pac 12. And 8-14 are simply atrocious.

I'll explain. You're right in that the top 4 aren't better than most other leagues but if the B10 only gets those 4 they would easily be 7-1/8-0 through 2 rounds . They won't have the 3/4/5 losses leagues like the SEC/B12/ACC may have from the middle of the league . To me this would lead to the "experts " wondering if the league was underrated as a whole ( ie "maybe Nebraska and PSU should have gotten in as well" ). Hope that clears up what I mean there

I don't know if I would say they would "easily" be 7-1/8-0. Ohio State and Michigan could very well be 5 seeds or worse, which would mean it would be an upset for them to make the S16, and it's not like Purdue and Michigan State are some unbeatable teams.

And I understand you're point, but no that shouldn't really be the narrative if the B1G gets 3 teams to the S16 IMO. The conference has been garbage all year, and it's not like the conference did anything OOC to bring up the "we just beat each other up in conference" label.

It’s very unusual for a power conference to play so few RPI top 50 games. I am sure if you asked them, they would have liked more an opportunity.

Their season reminds me of South Florida from a handful of seasons ago. I wanna say they went 13-5 in the Big East and 1-2 top 50 wins. Got in as a 10 seed.

They are 1-5 against the top 50, and 3-8 against the top 100. There are teams in mid-major leagues who have played tougher schedules than them. And they don't even have good advanced metrics either, so they haven't even played well against their crappy schedule.

And that South Florida team had a significantly better OOC SOS and overall SOS, and they were placed in Dayton, which I thought was correct at the time. Nebraska's resume doesn't even come close to that, and still won't even with a win against PSU. Also that version of the Big East sent 9 teams to the tournament.

IMO We really don't deserve to get in unless we win today and get 2 in NYC.

But those first 2 wins might not be against the top 4 teams.

It’s flawed logic. These wins don’t count but if you have enough of them, then your good.

Can’t remember the last time a Big Ten team played 6 games total vs top 50. Horribly unlucky for some teams on the schedule to luck into the top 50.

That’s possible but can’t see both Michigan losing to 12 seed and Michigan State losing to Maryland/Wisconsin Winner. If it’s only one of those then it would hurt Huskers chances

I'm torn today . Obviously you never want to lose but id rather play Minnesota then Indiana in NYC than Illinois then Michigan . Illini have been playing much better and Iowa doesn't natch up with Michigan for shit.

Looking like Nebraska is going to get a double bye for the Big Ten tournament.

They need to win their first tourney game to have a shot imo, get 2 and they should be in but it's going to depend on how the other tourneys play out too

They have no shot at getting in if they just win one game.
