Busy right now but a name I hope the Chiefs are linked to in FA is Johnathan Hankins from the Giants. Would fill Poe's spot in the defense and provide comparable if not better production on run defense.

Do they have the money for Hankins? He'd be an upgrade over what Poe probably projects moving forward.

They can manipulate the first year cap hit to get it down if they're dead set on it. After cutting Foles on OTC the Chiefs have 10.5M for this offseason and 12.5 the next offseason assuming Alex Smith is still around; and a couple others like Tamba Hali and Derrick Johnson for next season. There's also Colquitt (4.1M) Sherman (1.8M) and Jah Reid (2.0M) if they want to dig into the 2017 depth well further by clearing out tertiary players.

Bottom line is it could be done if they want to assuming the Giants don't make it a point to keep him. Might mean you lose Hali next year, but that seemed like it was happening either way to me so it's no big loss.

DJ is the only person of that group that I'd really, really want sticking around. He was still playing at a high level last year as far as I could tell but one wonders if thats sustainable.

Not sure how much job security Jah Reid has.

It looks like Bennie Logan gets a 1 year deal. Pure Nose Tackle and was a bad fit in Philly's scheme (that or he just regressed). Could be exactly what KCs defense needs.

Seems like a pretty prudent risk to me as well. Certainly puts less pressure to plug in some other lineman. Jones would be a waste at NT, and I don't trust Howard there even if he could theoretically play nose. A lineup of Howard, Logan, and Jones in base with Bailey and possibly a draft pick rotating in and/or subpackage would be intriguing.

Haven't seen the details, but I see Derrick Johnson and Anthony Sherman have reworked their contracts.

Am I crazy in thinking that RG3 might be an option for the Chiefs? Awful injury history and not the best decision maker outside of the pocket but he is still young and never had a chance on the Browns. Then again, pretty much everyone he runs into thinks he 'barely knows how to play QB' so maybe thats a project too big for Reid.

If you put a gun to my head and make me reach for a QB in the 1st, pick a Davis Webb type in the 2nd, or RG3, I will take doors 1 and 2 before RG3; too far gone, IMO.

I'm definitely in the same boat.

I just think that there is a Plan C for backup QB with someone like RG3 or Romo or Kaeper...Chase Daniel. Plan A for many fans would be a QB falling into the Chiefs lap somewhere in Rd1 maybe with a trade up. Plan B would be trading back for someone like Davis Webb. Possibly only Davis Webb though Webb seems like he comes with all of the issues than Paxton Lynch has with Denver right now.

Its really difficult to change QBs when you're in the playoffs the year before. I wouldn't entirely rule out someone like RG3 though he certainly isnt the first choice.

Apparently Logan responded with something like: "I'd like to know who was saying that"

Of the RB's I think someone like Mack from USF or Brian Hill of Wyoming could be solid in the late 2nd or 3rd.

With who is available for the Chiefs I got some really high expectations for who the 2nd round pick is.

Edit: Damn it all, I really wanted McDowell to work out here.
