The announcing is making me hate Tiger all over again.

last week 'HE'S BACK!"

this week 'We all have to be patient as he gets used to his back fusion surgery."

....all based upon whether he makes the current putt he's lined up on.

That's the problem I have with Tiger...and it's not even his fault.

But when he's in a tournament, winning or not, all the other golfers are just glossed over and mentioned in passing.

He doesn't know any other way to approach the game. I don't see this lasting if he decides to continue like he is. He's just going to fuck up his back again and maybe for good.

This restart is a little different for Tiger...I think he still feels like he can win, but he knows it's a different tour now...the intimidation factor is gone and I think he knows that. I'm just watching the ride.

He's playing top 10 golf. He'll never dominate but a top a top 10 golfer is obviously in the hunt any tournament he enters. I'm just waiting for him to start throwing darts at the pin from 150 and in with his short iron game again. If he gets that going then he's a legit contender.

Tiger is 42. And he has the 2nd highest swing speed on tour.

There is nobody anywhere near Tiger's age at the top of this list.
36 years old was the oldest that I had found.

To me, this is a big ..how & why.

How does a 42 year old golfer with 4 back surgeries swing that hard & why is he swinging that hard.
It just makes no sense. A what's even stranger is that not 1 golf talking head out there saying it's wrong.
Instead, they are boasting about it. What planet is this?

FYI, the first number is the average, 2nd the Attempts and 3rd is the high.
And yes, Tiger has the highest recorded swing speed on tour. Yea, it's a head scratchier.

Hgh. Extended time away. Id bet that If the pga announced that they had a test for hgh, that went back 3-5 yrs, he'd retire immediately. Or you can stick with the narrative... tiger is magical.
Agreed.

129mph This past week. Insane.
Swing speed won't win many tournaments without accuracy and a good short game to compliment it.

I have to agree with those who believe it's somewhat suspicious. Given Woods' ego, his tyrannical approach at being #1 in everything under the sun, it just wouldn't surprise me that he would try to take a short cut to try and remain relevant in the one area where he lost ground - distance off the tee.

I also think that the PGA would do, or possibly has done nothing, with any samples of his given how much he still moves the needle. They'll dock a mid-to-lower player....maybe even a 'star' guy......but Tiger Woods? No way. Not at least until he was bad for business or he was clearly finished and no longer somebody they would hold on to.

His last surgery was a multi-fusion that aligned his spine and locked the structure in place. He claims he pain free for the first time in years and with the pain gone, he's back to a much more free swing.

How many people will be seeking the same surgery if it works that well??

They might be seeking it but can they afford it is the real question

If the lab comes back with something and the PGAT didn't do anything about it...Oh boy...that better never see the light of day. I'm not sure the PGAT could risk that...I think they would expose Tiger.

Right now? I don't think so...not while he's not only just relevant, but resurgent. They'd come up with some sort of 'it was inconclusive' or 'tainted' or whatever. Now...if he was finished as a player? Perhaps then, they'd make an example out of him and claim they'll expose even the biggest star in the sports' history, so everybody else....watch out.

It would be a farce, much like the MLB's so-called 'crackdown' on the cheaters. I firmly believe they knew all along, but homers and ratings and stuff.....

Excellent point.

MLB...was coming off a low point with the strike (which is really what drove me from the game as a real fan)...I think they knew the ball was juiced and I think they knew players were on the take and only ratted on them when their antitrust status was threaten.

Instead of just saying we have discovered we have a wide spread PED problem, as a league we will clean up MLB, implement updated testing, stricter fines, suspensions, etc...they decided to take their best assets (the players) and throw them under the bus...since then MLB is just a passing interest.

But I digress...the PGAT wasn't really rebounding from any major down turn in attendance, etc...sure Tiger is a ratings winner and they obviously like that, but that benefits TV, the tournament directors, more eyes on sponsors ads, etc...would I put it past them to not publicize a positive test? Not at all. But with it being Tiger, I have a feeling it would get leaked for cash...and if it got out, they would be a huge blow to tour golf.

Good pt. I am guessing that if social media and other things were in effect in the late 90s that no way in hell does the whole home run record thing go down as it did. No doubt someone would be talking PEDs non-stop & dishing dirt on McGwire, Sosa, etc & it would been discussed constantly on shows like First Take.

This is a completely different era than the late 90s & there tons of folks who would love to cash in on dirt on folks like Tiger.

It just so happens that ESPN posted this pic to their website.
These are the most "protected" athletes on the planet. Corporations make billions off of these 3 alone.

You say people would love to cash in on dirt? .....These corporations would never allow the images of their money makers to be tarnished. They only thing that ever gets out is when the police are involved.

Other then that, they can bury anything.

I dunno...I do believe in the "protected" athlete theory to a degree and maybe that degree ends with police involvement as well.

In the case we're talking about, sweeping a positive drug test under the rug...yes, I can see that happening because the culprit typically wants cash more than exposing a scandal.

The powers that be would have to be on top of it so fast that the media would have no chance, because they wouldn't care...breaking the story would be far more valuable.

He's probably juicing but he's not the only one. There's a lot of guys out there who's bodies are pretty stacked on the tour to the point where you'd have to ask how they're able to get the gym time in for lifting to maintain it with their tight schedules.

Huh - like or hate them what exactly have LeBron or Serena Williams done that makes them suspect? You could possibly make a case against Tiger I guess. Anyhow - sure corporations can make $$ off these folks, but there are lots of other folks who would love to cash in or be noticed by taking the opposite approach. BTW - if say ESPN doesn't want to ruin the reputation of some - no big deal - plenty of other media outlets who would just love to spill all kinds of crap on these folks if given the chance (even without verifying sources or if none of it is true).

Look at what happened when Tiger was pulled over. Those pics were available literally minutes after the arrest occurred & lots of outlets were none to happy to discuss it and talk crap about him. This works both ways & no way that anyone can be completely protected in this era.

What you are saying can't happen ..happened. And if not for massive movement it would have never come to light. Why did nobody cash in on what was going on with these guys?

Recognize some but not all of these guys but several were eventually exposed. Perhaps you are stating that they were protected for a while. Fine - good pt - but they were all eventually exposed. Again - in this era it will be a lot tougher to protect folks especially when certain people know that they can gain some level of fame & $$ by being the one to expose folks.

In any case - this is all conjecture on the part of people here. If you have proof of Tiger or whoever actually taking PEDs - bring it on - until that time it means nothing.

You have me confused with those who broached the PED angle of this thread.

Mine has always been why is he swinging that hard and why is no body condemning it.
