Doug Baldwin was asked if all the injuries last night was Exhibit A for why TNF is "tough" on players...

"It's Exhibit A, B, C, D, Z. TNF should be illegal."

Ritchie Incognito last week, didn't need such an inquiry. Calling it unfair and only a money maker.

I agree, it directly contradicts the NFL's motto of player safety.

I agree it's a money maker.
But more injuries because of It?
Players get hurt in every NFL game.
Doesn't matter what day it is.
Some get hurt in practice.
I'd be interested to see some injury stats for each day of the week.

Less time to "recover" from minor injuries can lead to major ones. (even if they are inevitable)... three days in between game days leads to many things, few of which are beneficial.

You're right though, 'more injuries because of it' should not be the focal point. It can't be calculated. It certainly can be declared, however, to not be beneficial to player safety and/or team prep.

I wonder how many docs, ortho specialists, PT peeps it would take, and how long they'd have to setup a study for, to have a valid "scientific" call as to whether TNF does or does not cuase more injuries.

But, the one thing I feel is undeniable, is that the athletes themselves definitely feel that way, and even if its just mental, one thing any former football player will tell you, if your head ain't right, if your playing at less than full speed for whatever reason, that's when bad things happen. So, there's that, and that's where I'd lean until proven otherwise

For me it's overkill in the first place. Liked it more when it was just a handful of games.

But they really should only do it between Week 4 and Week 12. Only teams coming off a Bye.

Only thing that bugs me, is if I player can't go Thursday, but they would have been able to play on a Sunday. Seen a bunch of guys ruled out for a Thurs game that would have gone on a Sunday had they had the extra treatments and rest. SO it could mess with guys bonuses and shit like that.

Just cause you got hurt on a Thursday, doesn't mean you weren't gonna get hurt that Sunday.

I'd like to see two Monday night games. One on the East Coast, then one the West Coast.

although I do agree that Thursday night football is not good for player safety, I would also not give any noise to an interview given to a player from the losing team on, of course the reason they lost was NOT because of their preparation...

Nice idea! I think they could do that with SNF too. There's always an hour to kill in between the end of the late afternoon game and the start of SNF, and I've never understand the glut of 6,8, or more games in the early block, and only 3 or 4 in the middle. Move one if those early ones to an earlier start Sunday night game, and another one to an earlier start MNF. Everyone gets more primetime exposure, and fans get more games than just the local markets

agree with these last few posts completely - love the idea that TNF teams should be the teams coming off bye weeks, more prep time, games will definitely benefit/be better to watch, imo.

also with the 2 SNF and MNF games - guessing the issue here is network $$$ - NFL prob wants too much for the extra time slots, would be my guess.

Cause let's be real, no matter which side you fall on, TNF is a pure money grab by the league. Has zero to do with improving anything outside of the pocketbooks.

But I also enjoy the extra night of football, as my college football viewing time has dramatically decreased the last couple seasons.

Take that Thursday package and move it to Monday. They get their games and money.
