That is a pretty cheap price for a forged knife. That's usually the price for the stamped ones. Stamped ones suck. This one isn't a zwilling (the higher end henckels) but if it's forged (which it says it is), it's a decent product.

My everyday knife is a 7" santoku. The ones in the block (henckels) are fine, but the santoku seems to do everything, even cut fresh french bread and I like the heft when I'm holding it. I was at Sur La Table a few weeks ago and they were having a sale on the stamped knives. I asked to hold one... YUCK! No weight at all.

Looks pretty good... Do you have a honing steel and a sharpening stone to keep it nice and sharp?

Just a honing steel. I was debating whether to get this or a Cutco knife that I could send to be sharpened at any time for free.

I have a Henkle set that I got from Marshalls. I love the chef's knife. It is weighted really nicely, which my gf doesn't seem to understand. It feels solid in your hand and you can really chop with it. She has her own set of Schmidt knives that I don't like as much. What sucks is we have a surplus of knives in our kitchen with 2 full sets of knives laying around.

I would also look at this one.

When done correctly the blade will be as sharp as it would ever need be. It's quick and precise.

 It ain't rocket science folks..

I use a steel most of the time, but I use this on my filet knives. It will put a fine edge on it fo sho.
