My mom used to make this Boston Cream Pie (actually a cake) that was just wonderful.
I always loved to eat it.
She's older now and I can't ask her to make it.
Have not had in in many years.

My Aunt made what she called Hungarian Goulash.
I could never get enough of it. She moved to Arizona 30 years ago and all I have are the memories.
Nobody can make it the same way she did.
Something like this.

One of my Great Uncles married a Cuban woman and brought her to the U.S. before Castro.
She would make this "Spanish Chicken and Rice" dish. I guess with a Cuban flair.
Only had it a couple of times but it was the best I ever had. She's been dead for 40 years now.

I still remember it like it was yesterday.

I ate everything in sight.

The more I ate, the skinnier I got. :bawling:

Some Filipino dishes that my mom used to make when I was a kid. For some reason, both of my parents have been making them less and less. They're not even hard to make, but I guess they've gotten lazy. I've learned to make a handful of them myself, but you know it's never the same as when mom or grandmom cooked it.

1) That toxic orange powder that you combined with milk/butter, and added to noodles. It came in a rectangular blue box.
2) Chicken leftover parts/byproduct shaped into nuggets, and then breaded and deep fried.
3) Regular/sugared soda.

Does anyone remember those Mickey Mouse head ice cream bars from back in the 1980's? They were chocolate and vanilla ice cream, with mickey's face being vanilla and the ears being chocolate? I used to get those as a kindergartener/1st grader (mid-late 80's), and I swear I haven't seen them since that time period.

My Grandmother was an amazing cook. I managed to learn a lot of what she made but I still can't get her pizza recipe right. It was an old school Sicilian pan pizza with basil and very little cheese but it was ridiculous. Can't get her sauce (Old school Italians refer to it as "the gravy") down perfectly either.

And Chocodiles. Twinkies covered in chocolate. They don't make them anymore
