2 weeks into the season the guys lighting it up are:

  • Alex Smith - 5 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, 77.8% completion %, 134.1 rating
  • Derek Carr - 5 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, 75.0% completion %, 126.5 rating
  • Matthew Stafford - 6 touchdowns, 1 interception, 71.% completion %, 114.6 rating
  • Kareem Hunt - 3 rushing touchdowns, 229 rushing yards, 2 receiving touchdowns, and 126 yards receiving

Based on the list so far I think it's safe to say it will change quite a bit throughout the year. If I had to give it to anyone right now it's Hunt by a mile. Let's keep tabs on these guys week to week in this thread as they move in and out of the hunt.

Kareem Hunt has certainly been something these first two games when he has been given any kind of daylight.

Chiefs are perhaps unsurprisingly with those two playing as well as they are leading the NFL in yards per play at 7.6. That more than a full hard ahead of the next team (Oakland at 6.5) and more than double the Texans at 3.6 YPP.

Three games into the season Todd Gurley has 241 rushing yards, 4 rushing touchdowns, 140 receiving yards, and 2 receiving touchdowns. It looks like this new Rams offense has benefitted him the most.

Put Carson Wentz on that list if he can pile up some wins. The Eagles run game and interior OLINE is abysmal and he's putting up great numbers.

Right now I'm voting Alex Smith.

I would take A Smith out...I don't think he will continue to be as aggressive as he's been. We can count on Carr and Stafford continuing to chunk 35-40 times a week...if they stay hot I would expect them to stay in the hunt.

I think we have to add Brady to this list off his NO game alone.

This is for who is leading the race now. People will fall off the list and others will make the list as the season goes on. Right now Smith deserves to get a little shine for his performance thus far. I agree that it's pretty unlikely that he will finish the season competing for MVP especially compared to Brady.

Put Goff in the mix, if he continues playing well he could help turn around tha Rams.
