Trey has averaged 11.8 Pts, 2.6 Asts, 2.0 Rebounds, 0.6 Stls, 1.3 TOs, 42.3/34.7/78.5 shooting in 23.6 Mins.
Shelvin averaged 3.9 Pts, 1.6 Asts, 0.9 Rebounds, 0.3 Stls, 0.6 TOs, 42.1/14.8/75.0 shooting in 7.5 Mins.

If Mack played Burke's minutes, that would come out to be: 12.3 PTs, 5.0 Asts, 2.8 Rebounds, 0.9 Stls, 1.9 TOs in 23.6 Mins.

Sounds like more assists, comparable points, more rebounds, more steals, more TOs but better AST/TO ratio. Worse shooting everywhere.

A little time to adjust. A bit of limited minutes below 23.6. Burkes' minutes and production were going down since the start of the year, so that's a factor when comparing the numbers.

I haven't paid much attention to Mack.

What do you think of him?

I didn't know he was born yet. I expected him to be born in 2018. (In other words, I hadn't heard of him before.)

Thanks.

I don't care as much if it makes Hayward, or any player happy.

If he's a decent player, the team will win, and they'll be happy at the winning.

June 2013: trades Gorgui Dieng and Shabazz Muhammad to Minnesota for Trey Burke

June 2013: trades Erick Green and cash to Denver for Rudy Gobert

June 2013: trades 2015 2nd round pick (Pat Connaughton) for Raul Neto. Interestingly, the Jazz's own second round pick in 2015 was just after this one they traded, and they picked Olivier Hanlan (out of the league).

July 2013: Jazz faciliate Golden State's acquisition of Iguodala by turning Randy Foye, Kevin Murphy and $24M of cap space into Biedrins (non-factor), Richard Jefferson (debatable), Brandon Rush (non-factor) and several future picks: GSW 2014 1st (Rodney Hood), GSW 2016 2nd, GSW 2017 1st, GSW 2017 2nd and DEN 2018 2nd (later traded for Shelvin Mack).

June 2014: Jazz trade Jarnell Stokes (35th pick) to Memphis for a 2016 2nd round pick.

July 2014: Jazz trade Diante Garrett to Toronto for Steve Novak and a NYK 2017 2nd round pick.

February 2015: Jazz trade Kanter and Steve Novak to OKC in exchange for Tibor Pleiss, Kendrick Perkins, Grant Jerett, OKC 2017 1st (protected), DET 2018 2nd.

February 2016: Jazz trade 2nd round pick (from Denver/Foye trade) for Shelvin Mack.

Kanter, Steve Novak, Gorgui Dieng, Shabazz Muhammad, Erik Green, Pat Connaughton, Diante Garrett, Randy Foye, Kevin Murphy, Jarnell Stokes, $24M of cap space, DEN 2018 2nd, and cash

for

Rudy Gobert, Rodney Hood, Trey Burke, Raul Neto, Shelvin Mack (DEN 2018 2nd), Biedrins, Richard Jefferson, Brandon Rush, Steve Novak, Tibor Pleiss, Kendrick Perkins, Grant Jerett, OKC 2017 1st (protected), 2016 2nd round pick, DET 2018 2nd, GSW 2016 2nd, GSW 2017 1st, GSW 2017 2nd, and a 2017 2nd round pick.

Then, we got Erik Green back.

We basically got Shelvin Mack in facilitating the Golden State trade.

In the 15 games where Mack has played 6 minutes or more, he has averaged 5.7 points, 1.3 Rebounds, 2.3 Asts, 0.5 Stls, and 0.7 TOs in 10.4 minutes per game. 3.18 AST/TO ratio. He has shot 44.4%, 18.0% from 3, and 75% from the FT line.

In 23.6 minutes (Burke's average): 12.9 PTs, 2.9 Rebs, 5.3 Asts, 1.1 Stls, and 1.7 TOs.

Burke in 23.6 Mins: 11.8 Pts, 2.0 Rebounds, 2.6 Asts, 0.6 Stls, 1.3 TOs, 42.3/34.7/78.5 shooting.

There has only been one game where Burke played fewer than 6 minutes.

Sheldon Mack's Last 4 Games: 32.3 Minutes, 26-51 shooting, 11-17 on 3-PTs, 2-3 FTs, 7.5 ASTs, 1.3 STLs, 3.8 TOs, 2/1 ASTs/TOs, and 16.3 PTs.

If he could average that in 32.3 Minutes but play 16-24 with Exum starting, I would be ecstatic. I couldn't quite say those words @nuraman00 wants me to say, but I would be closer.

16 Minutes: 8.2 PTs, 3.8 Asts, 0.7 Stls.
24 Minutes: 12.3 PTs, 5.7 Asts, 1 Stls.

I could have taken a three game sample to make his points and shooting percentage higher, but that would have lowered his assists, which are more important to me. And lowered his steals, which are less important to me but relevant.

I could have taken 8 games to make a better sample size and still have 6.3 APG, but screw that, it ruins his shooting percentage! ;)

I guess you found the sample of games amount that you wanted.

It's hard to average 5+ assists in 24 mins.

Ginobili is one of the few that could do that with low minutes.

Mack also won't average those assists when Hayward plays.

My head spun around when the broadcast said the other day that Hayward was the team's leading scorer. He doesn't feel like one, I thought it was Favors.

Shh! Don't kill my unsubstantiated unrealistic dreaming out loud. Besides, Hayward only missed one of those four games. Mack still averaged 6.7 in Hayward's last three games. I'll take it! Don't tell him, but I'd take 4.0 APG, too. That's how low my expectations have fell for Utah Jazz PGs.

Thanks, great post.

I don't think you're looking at the right Utah Jazz PG.

The Utah Jazz PG (Hayward) is averaging 6+ assists.

He's the PG. He's the best ball handler and playmaker, and that's not a slight. I do think he's a good playmaker.

Wait, I just looked it up. He's averaging 3.7. Strange, I remembered he averaged 5.2 2 years ago. I thought he would have bumped his average up to 6+.

Wait, what are you doing MHSL82? The Jazz are having their best season in years. They're 12th in offense, 10th in defense, 3rd in offensive rebounds, 11th in defensive rebounds, well-coached, and are much better than the 2012 team.

And yet you're daydreaming about some guy getting better stats? ;)

Andre Miller lead the league in assists for a 17 win Cleveland team that was 28th in offense, 24th in defense, 5th in offensive rebounds, 4th in defensive rebounds, and 28th in turnovers. If that were the Jazz, would that make you happier? ;) J/K.

Assists are my thing. Of course, I want wins first.

I want a 10+ Assist guy but I am happy to settle for 4.0, is that so bad of me? And still, I don't get a f'ing 4.0 APG PG!!!
