Not much to look forward to this year unless you get off on individual statistics.
My hunch is that Peraza gets sent back till the end of August.

In the last 5 games the Reds have been out scored 41 to 14. I'm not sure any team can do worse than that. The starting pitching is bad as well as the bullpen. The offense sucks as well. And tonight they get Greinke.

The offense gassed out in May. They tried their hardest to mask the pitching as long as possible.

There are some .240 averages being masked as improved hitting, that's a fact.

At least Cozart is still on the juice. We won a game finally. Championship here we come.

I think the overall team approach to hitting has improved. I'd give Don Long a passing grade.

The position player that is the most disappointing to me is Jose Peraza. There's a guy with absolutely no approach other than getting his swings in. He's an example of a hitter that has talent getting himself out.

Cozart is the most improved. His breakout season can be attributed to being more selective at the plate.

Jose Peraza should be paying attention, but I don't think he is. His role on this team should be reduced to utility player.

A quality start and the pitcher has a 4.50 ERA. Not a great statistical performance, but it gives this team a chance to win.

It'd be nice to see a few more, but I'm not really expecting it.

tHom and Chris were talking last night on-air about the Astros possibly being a trade target for Cozart. That makes sense and the fact that they couldn't lose the AL-W on a bet makes it more intriguing. Correa is out 6-8 weeks and would be back mid-Sept. Will be curious to follow that one.

The Astros have been playing Marwin Gonzalez at SS. He's having a Scooter Gennett type of Super Utility man season. I'd be surprised if Luchnow parted with prospects to acquire a SS with a big lead in the division and a fairly low number to clinch the #1 seed in the Post Season.

I saw that about Gonzalez. Seems like the Astros would be out of the market.

With the way the Reds went into the AS break, I really didn't think they would come out of it playing so poorly. The offense has been, just bad. When they trade Cozart the offense will be worse

I see Robert Stephenson is going today. I wonder if the Reds are trying to trade him, and this is an audition.

I think Price is basically saying that the rest of the year is Stevo's chance to make it or break it. Being he is a first round draft pick, I'd say they will stick with him until the numbers are just unsustainable.

I wonder what the chances are, of the Reds losing 100 games now. anybody think the Reds can win 23 more games the rest of the year. Up until this homestand, I thought the Reds would win 75 games or more. But as they say. "That ship has sailed"
I also wonder what this team will look like after this week, and what prices chances of being back next year

Price may not WANT to come back if he keeps getting this sort of crap for pitchers.
Cozart is all but gone and the donkey yarn on Saturday was the key. They obviously don't expect him to play any more home games in Cincy.
100 losses? Probably not.

I think Bryan Price would like to come back as long as the Reds will keep him. With his current managerial resume another club could have reservations hiring him as a manager. I guess it all depends on how he fits with another teams philosophy. I don-t see a lot of upside to Price as a manager.

I think if Cozart's legs were 100%, he'd already be wearing another teams jersey. The DL stint around the All Star break and his playing time being limited by needed days off gives teams something to think about.

Who is hot and who is cold?

Votto and Schebler have really struggled since the break. Votto is hitting .121 and Schebler .071 with neither hitting a HR.

Suarez has hit .324 with 4 HR's and Billy Hamilton has hit .400 since the break.

Sal Romano and Luis Castillo give a glimmer of hope that the entire farm system isn't void of pitching.

Stephenson was a mixed bag Saturday. He threw strikes, but a lot of hard hit balls that were both hits and outs.

I'd assume from the Reds perspective throwing strikes is a good start. We'll see if he can improve upon that start next time out.

He certainly doesn't offer much to a team needing an experienced guy who can play everyday.

Another teams need for a SS is just a HBP away. Getting hit in the hand seems more prevalent these days. Did anyone else see JD Martinez swing and get HBP against the Reds last week? Painful way to strike out.

The Red Sox might be a team to monitor in the Zack Cozart watch. Xander Bogaerts has a hand injury and hasn't played in a week.
