We have one prospect in the top 100 and they are way down the list. Pipeline is dried up and what do we have to show for it?

Possibly the best move of the off-season is bringing in a new strength and conditioning coach. For years I feel like we've seen guys go down with seemingly preventable injuries, hopefully this leads to fewer DL stints.

NEW YORK -- Left-hander Josh Smoker has been traded from the New York Mets to the Pittsburgh Pirates for minor league left-hander Daniel Zamora and cash.

The swap was announced late Wednesday, five days after Smoker was designated for assignment to clear a roster spot after the Mets re-signed free agent infielder Jose Reyes.

Smoker was 3-0 with a 4.70 ERA for the Mets as a rookie in 2016, then went 1-2 with a 5.11 ERA and 68 strikeouts in 56 1/3 innings over 54 relief appearances last year. He was sidelined from June 14 to July 10 with a strained left shoulder and had a 2.63 ERA in 32 games following his return.

Smoker, who turned 29 in November, enters games to Deep Purple's "Smoke on the Water."

The 24-year-old Zamora, who attended Stony Brook on Long Island, was 2-4 with nine saves and a 1.76 ERA last year from Class A Bradenton and Double-A Altoona, striking out 63 in 56 1/3 innings. He was a Florida State League All-Star.

So if fully healthy what is our lineup?

1. Rosario
2. Conforto
3. Cespedes
4. Bruce
5. Frazier
6. A-Gon?
7. Cabrera
8. D'Arnaud

No speed but the heart of that lineup looks pretty solid. Hopefully Rosario locks down that leadoff spot and D'Arnaud can somehow find his bat again.

Callaway: If Mets fail, 'that's going to be on me'

Meanwhile.....
WASHINGTON -- The Washington Nationals have acquired utility player Matt Reynolds from the New York Mets in exchange for cash.

The Nationals announced the move Monday night.

The 27-year-old Reynolds made his major league debut with the Mets in 2016. He hit .230 with one homer and five RBI in 68 games last season.

Reynolds can play all four infield positions and both corner outfield spots.

The Oklahoma native was selected in the second round of the 2012 draft out of the University of Arkansas.

It's all talk at this point but I am loving Callaway so far. If nothing else he sounds like he gets it and has a certain swagger to him.

NEW YORK -- The Mets are bringing back Matt den Dekker, adding depth in the outfield as they wait for All-Star slugger Michael Conforto to get healthy.

New York announced Thursday that den Dekker was signed to a minor league contract and invited to big league spring training camp. He was traded by the Mets to the Washington Nationals for lefty reliever Jerry Blevins in March 2015.

Drafted by the Mets in 2010, den Dekker played in 80 games for them in 2013 and 2014. He is a .234 career hitter with seven home runs in 158 major league games with the Mets, Nationals and Tigers.

A solid defender, the 30-year-old den Dekker played in four games for Detroit last year. He also spent time in the Miami Marlins' organization, batting a combined .250 with eight homers, 29 RBIs and 10 stolen bases for Triple-A New Orleans and Triple-A Toledo.

Conforto is expected to be out until at least May as he recovers from shoulder surgery.

Along with pitcher Jacob deGrom and catcher Travis d'Arnaud, the move once again gives the Mets three players whose last name begins with a lowercase d.
