Will be interesting to see what effect the contract has, if any, on free agents this summer. Is this the new bar? Will teams consider this a bad signing? Will players and agents expect this?

JVR's production the last 5 seasons has been around 30 goals and 60 points per, but your point is still correct. I am sure that is what he will be trying to get, and probably will, but he wont get it from TOR.

Yeah, don't think Toronto will be keeping JVR. They need to find savings to get a good defenseman and sign the big 3 long term. Not keeping JVR will help them achieve that.
