If I'm looking past TB-BOS-TOR in the ATL I still think Florida has a big advantage on Buffalo. They have good, NHL C's on their top two lines, they have their fully-developed Rasmus Dahlin, Luongo has to at least equal Carter Hutton and of course they only fell short of the playoffs last season by 1 point.

As long as there isn't an expansion draft between now and October, I think the Pans can make for some tough games in that division.

Random thought: If Samsonov is ready to be an NHL Backup, how many starts is enough for it to make it worth missing more games in the AHL? 20? 25?

I don't know if Holtby can start 60+ games a year anymore and the remaining 25-30 starts would be a lot for either Rookie (Samsonov or Copley) but I would think 25 games at a higher level would outweigh starting 40+ in the AHL.

Caps should grab one of Toronto's 3 backup goalies for a 4th rounder. Samsonov is probably ready for some reps but I probably wouldn't want him getting more than 10-15 games in. Grab a Garret Sparks or a McBackup and send them down harmlessly when it's time to give the kid a try.

That's a good deal for both sides.

I like this signing because Oilers fans were salivating at potentially bringing Ellis to Edmonton. First of all, they have very little cap room and secondly, why would Ellis want to go to that dumpster fire?

That sucks. Really thought he was a realistic trade target.

Assuming Josi signs for similar next summer and no one falls off a cliff Nashville could have one of the best top 4's in the league for the next four seasons for $25 mil/yr. That's pretty good business.

Thinking that Larkin deal is about a million to much a year but contract length is good.
