tOSU has they guys they want, the rest is just icing on the cake. The ranking of the class doesn't matter.
I want Gary and I'll be happy with our class. I will be disappointed if Clemson swoops in and gets him.

289.17 - 285.94 = 8?

And btw, that's with Alabama only having 19 commits at the moment. We are going to end up around 315 most likely.

Oh shoot, I wasn't looking at the composite

I read this the other day that says that rankings actually kinda do matter. I don't know how accurate this is though:
These numbers are always subjective. All of the services do not agree.

I think he is a lock. Harbs hiring his HS coach made it almost a done deal.

So let's just go by the Rivals rankings then:

2001 Miami (#2 in 2001, #9 in 2000, #8 in 1999)

2002 Ohio State (#7 in 2002, #4 in 2000, #2 in 1999)

2003 LSU (LSU #1 class in 2003, #4 in 2001 USC #3 in 2003, #14 in 2000, #21 in 2001)

2004 USC (#3 class in 2003, #1 class in 2004)

2005 Texas (#1 class in 2002, #15 class in 2003, #18 class in 2004 -- but only signed 15)

2006 Florida (#2 in 2003, #10 in 2004, #2 in 2006)

2007 LSU (#1 in 2003, #1 in 2004, #7 in 2006, #4 in 2007)

2008 Florida (#2 in 2006, #1 in 2007, #3 in 2008)

2009 Alabama (#10 in 2007, #1 in 2008, #1 in 2009)

2010 Auburn (#10 in 2006, #7 in 2007, #4 in 2010) Auburn was #20 in 2008 and #19 in 2009

2011 Alabama (#1 in 2008, #1 in 2009, #5 in 2010, #1 in 2011)

2012 Alabama (#1 in 2009, #5 in 2010, #1 in 2011, #1 in 2012)

2013 Florida State (#7 in 2009, #10 in 2010, #2 in 2011, #6 in 2012, #10 in 2013)

2014 Ohio State (#11 in 2011, #4 in 2012, #2 in 2013, #3 in 2014)

2015 Alabama (Multiple #1 classes)

2010 is the only national champion that did not have at least a #1 or a #2 ranked recruiting class on Rivals. So recruiting ranking seems to make a HUGE difference on whether your team will win a national title or not....at least it has for 14 of the last 15 winners.

Nobody listens to Rivals... hahahah just messing with you. I get what you are saying but I think the class tOSU has can get a NC in the next 3 if all things work out.

I wish this was the case. We wouldn't have had to go thru all this, as Gary could have committed last year, when we hired Partridge.

What I don't understand is why kickers are not valued by recruiting sites? Seems like the best kickers should get high ratings just like the best players at other positions. Especially when a kicker has a good chance of winning or losing games for you on his own.

You have to work hard for the #1 kid no matter what.

AMEN. Though I will say -- Asiasi and Tagoloa would be HUGE commits, if UM was somehow able to find a way to get it done.

Asiasi would be a monster at TE and Tagoloa and Gary would be two anchors on the DL.

I can say though -- I'm extremely happy with the class he has signed. I love the two CB's they signed (Long and Hill). I love the group of WR's he signed. If they get Asiasi -- the TE group will be huge in a couple years.

A lot to like about this class.

Because kicking is a very small part of the game. A place kicker averages what, maybe 2-3 attempts a game, vs a line backer who is in 40+ plays a game.

But a LB rarely gets a chance to win or lose a game. The 2-3 attempts a kicker gets can be, and often are, very important.

Michigan fans are cautious about expectations when it comes to #1 recruits. We were the final two for Da'Shaun Hand (sp) and lost out to 'Bama.

After watching how absolutely dominate Gary was against other All Americans at the UA game and how he has been talked about -- he seems like a game changer type of player. You don't find kids that can play inside and outside his size and as fast and strong as he is.

While it is only 1 player -- he'd be the biggest recruit michigan has signed in a while, though Jabrill Peppers was the #2 player in the country when he signed with us.
