As much as I loved Sale as a White Sox and was initially bummed to see him go (even tho it was inevitable), I think idseer is correct as to Sale's numbers the last two months of each season I don't have those figures at hand, but I recall that just around mid-late August thru the end of each season, he struggles as often as not. He does appear to be having his best year ever, so who knows, maybe this is the season where he dominates all the way thru.

I tend to look at it like this: Boston may not have won it without Sale. The Sox most certainly are not winning it anytime soon without him either. At least they'd be somewhat decent though...not 6th worst record in 118 years of franchise history bad and praying that some ok-but he's no A-rod/Bonds/Frank Thomas-guy will bail them out to 75ish wins for 300 million...and people are going nutso about this scrub after years of telling me how Sale wasn't worth it cuz we weren't going to compete anyway.

Yeah...Manny Machado is more of an answer than Chris Sale was as 27 year old #1 starter with a 2.xx ERA a few years back at probably 65% of the cost.

This team is definitely clownshoes sometimes. Just thinking about it gives me a f*cking aneurysm.

Chicago White Sox. My favorite team as a little boy. Somewhere along the line I just stopped. Nellie Fox, remember him? He played most of his career with the White Sox. He came from a little town just down the road from me by the name of St. Thomas. The little league team from there has the white uniforms with black stripes. At one age group they are called the White Sox. Hell, they even named a bowling alley after him. The famous Nellie Fox Bowl!

The White Sox have turned into a clown show. The “rebuild” is a facade for not spending. Telling the fan base of 100 people to keep being patient as the enduring suck continues is fine with them. It’s not a coincidence both Reinsdorf teams are utter garbage. Listen to was Forman and Hahn say. Practically the same garbage, watered down crap about how the time isn’t now and the fans have to be patient and trust their process. A team that has 3 titles since 1901 has no process other than bad. The White Sox threw a World Series in 1919 because they were so grossly underpaid. New owner, same spending adjusted for inflation.

If he were on the team now and in the last year of his contract, Reinsdorf would try to lowball him on his possible extension or flat out trade him.
