Tatum may turn out to be the better player than Simmons. Or they may both turn into elite super stars.

But for this year there is a clear gap. I also don't believe that Tatum is going to finish the season with one of the best 3pt% in NBA history. He's shooting significantly better from 3 than from 2(.519 to .508)

Meh...If Simmons is LeBron lite, Tatum is Klay Thompson....imo

Significant gap in talent. But, both will be monsters.

Saw something yesterday that put Lonzo's struggles into focus.

Tatum is shooting better from 3 than Lonzo is shooting from the ft line.

My goodness.

Jayson Tatum is Gaining Ground on Ben Simmons

Mecca it looks like it was a super smooth move that Danny pulled.

By the way the above article has it down. The teenager is nearly on pace to be a rare 50/50/90 player as a 19 year old to boot. 15 points and 7 rebounds at the half tonight as they have to have him play more minutes with jaylen and Morris out.

But its his defense that makes him the best multi tooled player in the draft
Yeah, I will use the Klay Thompson analogy again.

Both guys could put up bigger numbers if they were the guy.

But, both guys are better suited to playing within a system as a #2 or 3 option and are/will be elite two way players.

Outside of Celtics fans and @DJ, @Shaqdaddy11 ....

Few thought Tatum or the Celtics were capable of ......THIS.

Yep....I thought Irving going to Boston was great for them and him professionally.....Irving and LeBron didn't have as long as a relationship as Shaq and Kobe but sometimes for a player to grow......he wants to be the man. Even if it's just in his own mind.

They have over-achieved without Heyward......if Gordon buys in......they can only be better when he returns. Gives them an another dimension on offense.

Tatum could miss his next 84 3PA in a row and still have a better 3P% than Ball.
Simmons could miss his next 197 FGA and still have a better FG% than Ball.

Tatum has only taken 79 3PA so I would say that seems unlikely. I take it you meant FGA?

It might be true...
  • Lonzo is 28 for 112 in 3 pt shots
  • Tatum is 41 for 79 in 3 pt shots
Without doing the math... I think his math adds up.

I am guessing that with strength training and one or two more years of maturity we will only see a more polished scorer in Tatum. His handles aint bad but not superstar yet. he will get Kyrie training in that department. The thing I like about him is that he is so calm, not a show off even when dunking and he loves those 4th qtr shots

Glass half full...

At least he had the stones to attempt it.

Usually, he puts himself in timeout by sitting in the corner, terrified to shoot.

And? Lonzo has more assists, rebounds, blocks, and steals than Tatum. Completely different skill sets.

Definitely a gap this year. I don't think any sane person would argue that. It is also clear that Simmons has more future upside. But, Tatum's upside is still pretty damn high. If Tatum maximizes his and Simmons does not, Tatum could easily end up being the better player in time.

This year, however, the only thing stopping Simmons from ROY is injury.
