The Last Movie You Watched (no spoilers)

Florida Project. I saw it yesterday and was initially luke warm about it, but this morning I wake up and find myself haunted by that little girl and her mother. Holy shit. A couple of memorable performances to say the least!

Planning to see that. I hear the little girl is exceptionally good.

Think it was Generation Iron 2 on netflix. Interesting look at the contemporary bodybuilding. Freaks and roids abound.

Blade Runner (1982)

Harrison Ford barely looks like he's trying in this movie. It's very slow with little spurts of action. It's more about the concept and the little universe they've created rather than the plot. A-

The Mummy (2017) - It was an okay action movie. The characters are mostly stock and you don't really get to care about whether they live or die. But if this is supposed to be the start of the Dark Universe, it is not off to a good start. 2 out of 5 stars

The Circle.

It was pretty boring. The drama was about as interesting as watching a slug cross a garden.

And the conceit of the whole thing was lame. It lost me when the main character proposes having the Circle force everyone to use their service and take over all elections for the US and other countries.

It was like Candy Crush 1984.

Went to see Suburbicon on Tuesday. I like the Coen Brothers movies, but not this one. Very weird, which of course is normal for the Coens. Gets rather long and laborious at times and takes the usual twists, but in the end a rather gruesome picture of the 1950's.

Alien Covenant - Really bad

I gave it a much higher rating. It was really a remake of the original Alien, the way the director wanted it in the first place. I enjoyed it less than the original Alien but still liked it.

Went to see The Florida Project. Seemed to be very long. Outstanding performances by the mother and her daughter. It's really a study of people who've fallen on hard times and how they survive while being in the background of Disneyworld in Orlando. I gave it a B-

My wife and I walked out of the theatre. It seemed to be a lot of people were dipped in mud and mumbling nonsense.

Depp I think was phoning in his performance. The only actor that was worth a damn in the whole movie I thought was Geoffrey Rush. Glad I didn't see this in theaters, even on cheap night, and got it from Netflix instead.

Thor: Ragnarok

It's definitely a watershed movie. The story is pretty good, but it gets a little lost with mountains of jokes, gags, and one-liners. They could have cut that stuff in half and still had a fun, funny movie. I think they needed to tone it down a bit. It's a Marvel meets Flight of the Conchords. It is probably funnier than the Guardians movies.
