Kingsman 2 The Golden Circle - I'd give this 3 out of 5 stars. While I enjoyed it, it didn't quite live up to the first movie's appeal. Although I never thought I'd say this but Elton John was one of the better parts of the movie.

Saw The Big Sick over the weekend (written by and staring the guy who plays Dinesh on Silicon Valley).

Good movie, with some very funny moments...

8/10

Anatomy of a Murder: 3.5/5 stars. Pretty much every scene in this 2 hour and 40 minute film was engaging and entertaining, but it never built to a bigger climax, leaving me a little disappointed. I still enjoyed it. George C. Scott is a great actor, and aspiring actors should be forced to watch James Stewarts' filmography as part of training. I particularly liked when he got angry with Scott during the actual trial in the courtroom.

Wife and I saw Battle of the Sexes today. I'd give it an A-. Certainly one of the 5 best I've seen this year. Emma Stone was better in this, portraying Billy Jean King, than LA LA Land. Really good performance in a role far more complex than any previous movie she's made. Could be another academy award nomination but not likely a win.

Steve Carell is also excellent as Bobby Riggs.

Yeah me too. Hard to tell what was the movie and what was actual footage. In any event, BJ King hits the ball a lot slower than the women today. Serena Williams would have killed her.

The Hunt for Red October: 1.5/5 stars. I like Sean Connery just as much as the next guy, but his performance in this film was pretty average to me. The movie itself was more in line with “below average.”

The Hunt for Red October was a great movie just like the book. I'd give it an A- or 4/5 scoring on your system.

He routed her first.

I'm of the opinion he intentionally lost to King though. A lot of betting action on that match and I think he owed money to bad guys.

Heh.

Not bad at all. It had its own Misery scene. I couldn’t watch. I am not a huge gore fan, though, so maybe it wasn’t THAT bad...

They also acknowledged the Dark Tower, although in a minor way (if I remember correctly, the link in the book was about as minor, but I haven’t read the book in probably 20 years).

Just finished Homeward Bound again. Haven't seen it in years... movie still makes me well up and shed some tears at the end.

Amazing a movie that old is still IMO one of the best animal acted movies with dogs/cats ever made.

It wasn't a long scene and a smaller area, but yeah it was pretty gory. Good movie, but I think it lasted 10 minutes longer than it needed to be.

The thing you have to know about the guy Connery played in the movie was that he was an undercover operative in Scotland for decades.

I agree. I think they should have kept the ending issue as it was. It would have been more fitting.

Sorry, I am intentionally trying to be vague.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle 3 out of 5 stars. If you liked the first one, you'll still like this one but I think it doesn't quite live up to the first movie. I think that Samuel L Jackson was definitely the more entertaining villain that Julianne Moore, although she did good with her character.

Transformers: The Last Knight 2 out of 5 stars. I might be a little bit generous with this one. I just thought that the movie was all over the place and the comedy didn't really work much at all. Really hope that Michael Bay can hand this franchise off to someone else to try to redeem it. I'd say of the five Transformers movies, this ranks 4th out of 5 with the 2nd one being the worst.
