I remember a Ilgauskas possession when he missed 4 layups in a row, and kept getting his own rebound. That might be an extreme example in terms of number of missed shots in a row, but the point remains that offensive rebounds can come at the expense of one's own FG%.

Sigh. A long post, and it's still not perfect.

There's a grammatical mistake.

It should be "I remember an Ilguaskas possession".

Weird, I wonder what happened here.

I had it right the first time, with "a Ilgauskas possession".

But then I made a post correcting myself, saying that it should be "an Ilgauskas possession", even though that's an correct correction?

And now I'm saying I had it right the first time.

Ingles has 6 2nd place votes? Which games are those?

For the fourth number, if it's reflective of games not in the top 7, is having a smaller number here better? Would 0 for the fourth number be the ideal target, since that would mean all games were in the top 7?

If a player didn't play, I didn't count that game in the fourth number. If he did play, but did not earn a MVP1-HM7 mention, it was reflected in that number. That number is actually negative on my Excel spreadsheet, but either way ZERO would be the best number to be. Ingles was Zero for a long time, so I thought he'd win Mr. Dependable or Mr. Reliable. Gobert's only Fourth Number qualifications were one he played only two minutes and another where he did nothing really.

Nuggets vs. Jazz - Box Score - October 18, 2017 - ESPN

MVP1: Ricky Rubio - 10 assists accounted for 20 points, plus 9 points, plus 5 rebounds.
MVP2: Joe Ingles - 11 points, 6 assists (12 points), and 5 rebounds.
HM3: Rudy Gobert - 18 points, 1 assist (2 points), and 10 rebounds. Blocks underwhelming though altered shots and offenses staying away from him is beneficial. 6 turnovers disappointing.
HM4: Derrick Favors - 14 points, 4 assists, and four rebounds
HM5: Donovan Mitchell: Didn't shoot well, but still managed double figures, dished the ball out four times, played defense (block and steal), had a great +/- (+22), and as a rookie, given the tiebreaker.
HM6: Joe Johnson - 13 points vs Burks 16, but more assists and rebounds.
HM7: Alec Burks: Simply playing and not getting injured should give him a mention. Just kidding. 16 points off the bench is a good contribution.

Thunder vs. Jazz - Box Score - October 21, 2017 - ESPN

Difficult.

1. Rudy Gobert - Tempted to give Rubio the third in a row, but Ricky's 6 turnovers, poor shooting, and Rudy's 3 offensive rebounds are three strikes. Plus, I assume defensively Gobert is contributing more than his numbers.
2. Joe Ingles - Yeah, I know. It doesn't make sense to deliberate between Ricky and Rudy, but then give the second spot to someone else than the runner up. Oh well. Shot well, defended well.
3. Ricky Rubio - Still, 16 points and >5 assists and rebounds each is good.
4. Derrick Favors - Box Score check at half suggested Favors contributed most to their halftime lead. Counts for something.
5. Donovan Mitchell - 6 assists! But mostly, Westbrook did poorly, was he Mitchell's guy?
6. Joe Johnson - 12 points off the bench and got rebounds and defenses
7. Alec Burks - Did more and shot better than Sefolosha.

Raptors vs. Jazz - Box Score - November 3, 2017 - ESPN

1. MVP1: Mitchell, 25 Points, 2 Assists, 2 Blocks, 3 Rebounds, ok shooting no turnovers.
2. MVP2: Ingles, 11 Points, 6 Assists, 5 Rebounds, 2 steals, good shooting.
3. HM3: Gobert, 15 Points, 2 Blocks, 7 Rebounds, good shooting, only one turnover,
4. HM4: Hood, 17 Points, 1 Assist, 3 Rebounds, but 3 Turnovers. Need more well-roundedness and better shooting.
5. HM5: Rubio, 13 Points, 3 Assists, 1 Steal - More assists, but 4 TOs and worse shooting < Hood.
6. HM6: Favors, 8 Points, 7 Rebounds, 2 Steals, and 1 Block.
7. HM7: Udoh, 4 Points, 1 Assist/Steal/Rebound each.

Bucks vs. Jazz - Box Score - November 25, 2017 - ESPN

1. MVP1: Mitchell, 24 Points, 6-10 Downtown, 4 Assists, 4 Rebounds, 2 Steals, Good shooting.
2. MVP2: Ingles, 15 Points, 9 Assists, 1 Steal/Rebound each, Good shooting.
3. HM3: Hood, 21 Points, 2 Assists, 2 Steals, 2 Rebounds, Good shooting, 3 TOs.
4. HM4: Favors, 16 Points, 6 Rebounds, 2 Assists, 6-8 Shooting, 2 Blocks, 1 Steal.
5. HM5: Rubio, 11 Points, 7 Assists, Good shooting.
6. HM6: Sefolosha, 11 Points, 4 Rebounds, Good shooting.
7. HM7: Udoh, 7 Points, 3 Assists, 1 Rebound, Good Shooting.

Jazz vs. Rockets - Box Score - December 18, 2017 - ESPN

1. MVP1: Hood, 26 Points, 4 Assists, 3 Rebounds, 2 Steals, 10-18 Shooting, 0 TOs.
2. MVP2: Ingles, 17 Points, 4 Assists, 3 Rebounds, Good shooting, 1 TO.
3. HM3: Rubio, 14 Points, 4 Assists, 2 Steals, 3 Rebounds, Good shooting, 1 TO.
4. HM4: Johnson, 12 Points, 2 Assists, 3 Rebounds, OK shooting, 0 TOs.
5. HM5: Jerebko, 6 Points, 3 Steals, 5 Rebounds, 1 Assist, Good shooting, 0 TOs.
6. HM6: Mitchell, 6 Points, 4 Steals, 2 Rebounds, 1 Assist, OK shooting, 1 TO. Injured.
7. HM7: Burks, 8 Points, 4 Rebounds, OK shooting, 1 TO.

Listed 7 players, despite 21-point loss, because they were winning through 3 quarters and Mitchell was injured in-game, playing without Gobert or Favors. Hard to adjust midway and while they deserved to lose, 7 players played hard in a difficult situation against a great team.
Thunder vs. Jazz - Box Score - December 23, 2017 - ESPN

1. MVP1: Mitchell, 29 Points, 5 Rebounds, 1 Assist, 1 Block, 1 Steal, 12-16 Shooting, 3 TOs.
2. MVP2: Ingles, 7 Points, 5 Assists, 8 Rebounds, Poor shooting, 2 TOs.
3. HM3: Favors, 11 Points, 8 Rebounds, 1 Assist, 1 Block, Good shooting, 1 TO.
4. HM4: Rubio, 6 Points, 5 Assists, 3 Rebounds, Poor shooting, 1 TO.
5. HM5: Johnson, 8 Points, 2 Assists, 2 Rebounds, Good shooting, 2 TOs.
6. HM6: Sefolosha, 11 Points, 2 Rebounds, OK shooting, 2 TOs.
7. HM7: Hood, 9 Points, 1 Assist, 1 Rebound, Poor shooting, 1 TO.

Here are the games I gave him Second Place. I admit that subconsciously/consciously I first look at:

1. Points
2. Assists
3. Well-Rounded Production
4. Shooting Percentage.

If I saw the game or read something, things can change. For example, Sefolosha had a big stop on James this last game.

I don't know what you are talking about. It should be "an Ilgauskas possession." And it should be, "a correct correction," not "an correct correction."

That's a really good line from Rubio.

I'm glad that Johnson earned a MVP, just because it brings back good memories of what he did in the playoffs last year.

0 turnovers from Johnson is really cool.

@MHSL82, I've liked your analytical contributions this season. You haven't done Top Games or MVPs in past seasons.

I've enjoyed them this season.

Can you use basketball-reference and find:

1) What game did any Jazz player in franchise history have the best 100% FT game (with the most FT makes)?

2) What games did any Jazz player in franchise history have 100% FTs and 100% FGs?

I heard on the radio today that Adrian Dantley had a game on this date in the 80s where he went 27 - 28 from the foul line.

Maybe it's not 100%, but it's impressive.

@nuraman00 , how can I format this better? I didn't want to bold the comments after the stat line and want to put the stat line first. But I'm not always going to have comments, so I don't want to built it in. Too much copy and pasting to add more formalities. Bold or not? Italics or not? Neither?

It seems like you've tried BOLD, Italic, and normal font, just on this page alone.

Let's do BOLD.

Your first paragraph was because I did that on purpose. I wanted you to see the differences. But hearing it from someone else, confirms that bold is best.

Should I unbold the title of "MVP1:," etc.?

Udoh's line was like a Ben Wallace line. Very nice.

There weren't many rebounds to be had. Agree with your rankings and analysis, though.

Normally I dislike it when someone plays 41 minutes and has 1 rebound.

Who was guarding Bogdanovic? Why was he almost the best rookie on the court? I know he's experienced because of his international play, but can't allow another rookie on the opposing team to have that kind of a game.

I would dock some points from Mitchell or Hood, whoever was guarding him.

Even if Bogdanovic had 5 turnovers, that was too good of a shooting night for there not to be penalties.

I did like 3 steals by Mitchell.
