I picked up my copy of Athlon Sports College Football 2018 yesterday. Their 2018 SEC College Football Preview hit the stands simultaneously. I don't know if other regional editions have landed yet.

Next up should be Lindy's and/or Street & Smiths. Phil Steel's is usually among the last to arrive.

These magazines always whet my appetite for the upcoming season.

Yep. Steele has moved his release date.

He used to hit the market the first week of June, but the last
3 years it has been more like the last week of June. And he's
4 bucks more than the others.

It's funny, as much as the logical part of my brain knows all their rankings and fluff is garbage, I still love reading the "lists" that get put out every time this year.

There's more Green and White Koolaid this year. Lewerke is getting a lot of unsupported love.

This year they are definitely drinking the Green Koolaid. That offense was atrocious last year and returning most of it doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s going to be good. But having a large carafe of Green Koolaid isn’t the norm. They are usually slurping up the Michigan Koolaid.

Happens with a lot of magazines. Back in 2008/2009 I would get my dad to buy magazines and send them to me because of the different covers. I lived in California at the time, so we got different covers for everything.

It's kind of funny because back then it was kind of big deal for Alabama to be on the cover. But for the past 8 years I haven't even bothered with buying them because it's so common.

Phil Steele king of ‘every prediction I make is write as long as I go back and change it’. Very big fan of himself as half the magazine talks about how great he is.

I agree 100% on thst. I always get his magazine because it has a great deal more team information, stats, stadium info, than all the others.

His predictions are pitiful. His Heisman picks are funny because he lists about 100 players that have a chance and then tells everyone how he thought they had a chance. Same with his surprise team and a few other of his predictions.

I like the amount of info as well but at the same time telling me about the long history of great position players a school has had going back to 2000 and then actually detailing those 7 or so players is just taking up space. like tell me about who a team just lost or is returning and who they have this year coming in.

Does that taste like overconfidence and envy? Asking for a friend
Arrogance with a touch of despair, but over powered by the taste of false self importance.
