So every year we hear about the eye test and how people use it basically to rank teams higher than other teams despite actual on field results. So if the eye test is paramount and something voters should be using when rankings teams can someone explain to me how FSU is still ranked first?? I think it is a very likely that the Noles should be ranked 6th or 7th right now BEST CASE scenario. You certainly cannot have them ahead of Auburn, Ole Miss, Miss State, Notre Dame, Baylor if you are talking eye test AND they do not have better wins than TCU OR Arizona when it pertains to on field results. The ONLY explanation is that because FSU won the title last year they are being given the benefit of the doubt. Are you OK with that or do you think each year should be graded on its own merits?? OR

I'm OK with FSU being given the benefit of the doubt (or any undefeated champ thats still winning, any season). Considering all the talent they returned and that they are still undefeated, and went on the road and beat a decent P5 team.

If they lose a game all bets are off, and if they continue to look suspect but continue to win, I could see moving their position around in the top 4 but not complete removal.

Last year shouldn't matter at all. They are obviously a different (worse ) team and rankings should be based on what teams do on the field including who they beat. IT should be VERY fluid.

Come Oct 18th we shall see if Notre Dame is any good. For my money; they are not and the Noles will lay them away. If that is the case, I suspect your opinion will change. Defending champs who are undefeated deservedly get the nod. I look for Auburn, Ole Miss and Miss State to knock each other out and there will be no undefeated SEC team at the end of the year. A couple of years ago a very lacking NR 1Notre Dame team was exposed by Alabama and the same thing could happen again this year.

OK they are undefeated and went on the road to beat a decent P5 team (now 4-1 and ranked 16th from maybe the 2nd best conference) and beat Clemson when they were ranked, and they will be ranked again.

You're free to ignore an undefeated national champ with your eyeball test if you want, I'm not going to. Not with 4 spots available.

Not really my opinion man, just trying to decipher why anyone would have FSU ranked first in any possible scenario other than giving them credit for last years title. I mean I think even FSU fans would tell you that if the rankings were based solely on this year then they shouldnt be anywhere close to number 1

All rankings are opinions. Even the computers are programed based on an opinion giving weight to certain aspects of the game over others.

I agree and have stated that even the coaches, players and fans understand that FSU is not firing on all 8 cylinders. I believe they should maintain their ranking due to the fact the remain undefeated and are defending champions. I suspect if they line up against Mississippi St or Auburn, the have their hands full and in order to win will have to upgrade their play. There are teams that have that ability and FSU just might be that team, sooooo I still like them as NR1.

They've won 20+ in a row. Far as I'm concerned they are the King of the CFB hill till their beat.

The game against Okie St. was not on the road. It was a neutral site game and Okie St has not played anyone tough since.

I am only looking at impressive wins and performance and FSU is not in the top 4 in that department.

Unranked to tenth

But how many teams have a truly impressive win? It's week 5 and most teams still have a lot of questions
