Who you got in the NFC title game? Backup Case Keenum? Or backup Nick Foles?

Surely this is the matchup the NFL league office dreamed up. The right to be David in a David versus Goliath SB featuring the reviled Brady against a noodle-armed, aw-shucks upstart the rest of America will feel sorry for. Right???

Seriously now, I think the Eagles-Vikings game will be a defensive struggle in which the scrub that makes fewer mistakes wins. Keenum has played better overall this season, for sure, but the Vikings are much tougher at home than on the road and this will be in Philly. That may matter.

My Hope is the Vikings win a backyard brawl

My fear is the Eagles pull out an ugly one, and get demolished in the SB

I share your fear Philly would be destroyed in a SB. And I agree they have a chance to pull out an ugly win at home, though I would not be shocked to see Minnesota romp either.

Case Keenum and Blake Bortles never started a playoff game prior to this year. There have been 20 QBs who have reached the Super Bowl in their first year starting a playoff game. Most recently in 2012 (Kaepernick). Those QBs are 10-10 in those games. Here are the 10 winners:

2001 Tom Brady
1999 Kurt Warner
1992 Troy Aikman
1990 Jeff Hostetler
1985 Jim McMahon
1982 Joe Theismann
1981 Joe Montana
1980 Jim Plunkett
1971 Roger Staubach
1968 Joe Namath

If both the Vikings and Jaguars advance, it would be the 4th time that both QBs start the Super Bowl without any postseason starts prior to that year.

1999 Kurt Warner vs Steve McNair
1985 Jim McMahon vs Tony Eason
1968 Joe Namath vs Earl Morrall

Interesting stats, thanks. Yes, Foles had one prior postseason start in 2013, a loss to the Saints.

He actually played pretty well in the game and left the field with a lead, but Darren Sproles got a big return, Brees and the Saints pounded out a few first downs and kicked a FG to win it as time expired.

I do, but trust me, I would love to be wrong. I think the only chance Philly realistically has is to have the Jags win.

Yup. I had forgotten about that. The 4 biggest gaps in playoff experience have come in the last 4 years when talking about playoff games played prior to the postseason that year.

2016: Brady (31) vs Ryan (5)
2015: Manning (24) vs Newton (3)
2014: Brady (26) vs Wilson (5)
2013: Manning (20) vs Wilson (2)

And tied for that last one is Elway vs Chris Chandler in 1998. Elway had 18 postseason starts going into 1998 and Chris Chandler had 0.

If it's Brady in the Super Bowl this year, it will move to the top spot.

part of me is wondering whether the Eagles can handle the Jags D.

I really don't think they are a cakewalk like everyone is writing them off as.

In my mind, Philly is going to be an underdog in any game going forward, the odds unlikely that they can win.

Still, two wins from a ring, not a bad place to be. Crazier things have happened in this league.

Must be frustrating cause they really could have won the SB with Wentz

I mean they still can, just really dont think so

Yup, very frustrating. If Wentz and Jason Peters don't get hurt this is a very different team.

Not checking all names, but Aikman started and lost a PO game in 1991.

If 2013 Nick Foles shows up, the Iggles have a chance. But 2013 Foles was a mirage, so that ain't happening.

I'm a follower so I will go along with the National Media and the "experts" on here and say Minny comes in and rolls the Eagles in their own house! Then makes history as the first team to play in a Super Bowl in their own home!
