Keatts has done awesome at Wilmington. He took over a mess and has been awesome pretty much every year. He'd be my go to selection. It's just a natural progression for him. High major assistant, successful mid major coach, high major head coach, and we'll see what he can do.

I'm trying to determine if this shows how stupid Yow is, of if it just shows how ridiculous a concept job interviews are for basically any field.

Not to defend Yow because she certainly deserves criticism, but the best Marshall had done up to that point was take WSU to the NIT in back to back seasons. But if she knew what she was doing she could have identified that he was a good coach without having taken WSU to the tournament. Obviously Marshall's had it rolling ever since. And for a guy like Marshall that might have been the last stop for him had he been successful.

Probably both. Remember, Yow loudly proclaimed that Gary Williams sabotaged her coaching search during Gottfried's introductory press conference. That was an incredibly dumb thing to do.

This is true. However, Marshall is from SC and took Winthrop to the NCAA Tournament on 7 different occasions. He also took Winthrop, a Big South school, to the Round of 32. That's extremely impressive. He had just won the NIT at Wichita State, so there was very little doubt that the man was a good coach. You want to hire guys like that, instead of retreads like Gottfried.

@ericd7633 was the win against UVA good enough to move Duke to the 3 line?

I know this isn't directed at me, but I do think Duke in now on the 3 line.

Yeah I kinda agree but I think they can get the 2 seed if they can run the table but that seems unlikely

Chris Holtmann at Butler also coached at Gardner Webb and is another name being floated by the NCSU contingent.

lol, wtf is this. Wake isn't Maryland, I don't think Wake has ever gone out of its way to claim they are "rivals" with Duke. As a North Carolinian, I do think Big 4 games are special, but I would never ague that Wake and Duke are rivals.

I think Butler is a better job at this point than NC State.

Although the ceiling is higher at NC State, its gonna take a lot of work.

My guess is based off of where the committee had them in their top 16 reveal and what's transpired since that they would be either the last #3 seed, or the first #4 seed(or 12/13 on the seed curve). I would personally have them on the 3 line myself, but trying to project what the committee would do, my guess is they'd be on the 3 line.

Right, that's kind of what I'm saying. She should have been able to identify that he was a really good coach regardless of how he interviewed. I'm just saying from her perspective she may have looked at his previous stop and said, he's only made a couple of NIT's, that's not going to cut it here.

NC State is probably the worse job next to Boston College in the ACC. But money is the key. State has a huge alum base and plenty of money to get who they want. Their problem has always been perception.

But why Gottfried would stay AFTER being fired is crazy. He has a $2.28 Million buyout and I always thought being fired meant they want you gone. NOW. Why not just take the money and GTFO? There's nothing he can do with this team a qualified assistant can not do.

Also, as bad an AD as Yow is she wants to leave a legacy hire in basketball. But as bad as that is they'll probably settle for Bobby Lutz, who actually recruited many of the present players, or get a former Wolfpack player like a bad Sidney Lowe had been.

So if by some insane next dimension chance

Nc State won the ACC tournament. Then what if they went on a historic final 4 run?

Still fired? Dogshit program firing a coach and having him keep coaching
