Wake Forest looked like they quit the first half against UNC. Embarrassing, especially that last possession.

We can't use injuries as an excuse. Duke has the talent, just not living up to it.. Here's what I started a thread about on the Duke Board:

"I've noticed that since Giles came onto the floor (and I mean actually playing live game action) the actual play or Duke has gone downhill. Team chemistry was all sorts of messed up when he and the other Freshman stepped onto the court. It's like the hype of these players has gotten to every Duke Player and they flat out aren't playing.

I don't remember seeing a team so sloppy, inconsistent and give up so many lay-ups then this years team. Now I might be too harsh but this isn't like this is there first time playing, it just happens to be their first time playing together and it appears to be messing with them.

The season is far from over that's for sure but man if Duke keeps on playing like this they aint winning anything!"

Duke has several issues other than injuries and set backs.

1) Allen has to run the PG because there are no PG's on this team and he has to be the one PG by default. He wants to be a slasher/scorer and when he misses a shot there's nobody back for a run out the other way. Duke had a season high in TO's versus FSU at 16, three of which were his. That's abysmal.

2) Three McD's All-Americans Centers at 6'10, 6'11", and 6"10, cannot protect the rim or score at the post as good as a 6'9" Jefferson and he's out.

3) Duke's best scorer is Kennard who gets shut down by quicker players taking away the threes and making him a slasher which he has trouble being.

4) Tatum wants to be the guy and a scorer who takes ill advised shots and momentum killers while trying to make high school lazy passes. He can be an ISO player but that's it. He has to learn to play with four other guys.

5) Matt Jones can only shoot set shots and is a defensive player who cannot guard inside players. He can hardly get a shot to go and struggles shooting.

6) Jackson is a slasher wing/complementary player who is unable to run PG.

Put together as a group they aren't playing together, not shooting well enough to be consistent, and cannot get offensive rebounds because they are all perimeter players who don't crash the boards. But the TO's are the biggest issue moving forward because they don't protect the ball.

They are missing Coach K too. These are just the problems off the top of my head.

This is the 2017 season so far.

Came roaring back in the second half. Wake continues to have extended periods (3-4 minutes in game time) in games where they look pretty bad. Its usually in the late stages of the second, but last night it came in the first half. That needs to be cleaned up.

Notre Dame is pretty damn good. They protect the ball, make shots, hit their free throws. They are a legit team.

Pinson has been great today for Carolina. Potential game changer for them.

SU's not won on the road in the acc this year. And they don't have the tools to get it done @UNC tonight. It's not only a big stretch...it's gonna be a long stretch.

ND just went 15/21 3-PT FG...and lost.

What are the odds a team goes 15/21 from the 3-point line and LOSE?

Maybe not. That's pretty unbelievable then...
Well, I guess you have to wonder why in the fuck didn't they take more 3's, especially considering how awful they were in the paint

Jonathan Isaac is a stud. Watched him against UNC and ND and IMO he was the best player on the court. What a talent. Out of all the highly rated freshman, he looks like he has the highest ceiling IMO.

The ACC Tournament is going to be simply unreal this year. This is how the tournament would look if it started today, I think:

Tuesday, March 7th:
First Round:

#12 NC State vs. #13 Boston College - 12:00
#10 Miami vs. #15 Pittsburgh - 2:30
#11 Wake Forest vs. #14 Clemson - 7:00(incredible game for an 11/14 match up)

Wednesday, March 8th:
Second Round:

#8 Syracuse vs. #9 Duke - 12:00
#5 Louisville vs. #12 NC State/#13 Boston College Winner - 2:30
#7 Georgia Tech vs. #10 Miami/#15 Pittsburgh winner - 7:00
#6 Virginia Tech vs. #11 Wake Forest/#14 Clemson winner - 9:30

Thursday, March 9th
Quarterfinals:

#1 UNC vs. #8 Syracuse/#9 Duke - 12:00
#4 Virginia vs. #5 Louisville/#12 NC State/#13 Boston College
#2 Florida State vs. #7 Georgia Tech/#10 Miami/#15 Pittsburgh
#3 Notre Dame vs. #6 Virginia Tech/#11 Wake Forest/#14 Clemson

I think Boston College is the worst team in the league. I think Ga. Tech is the 2nd worst team in the league, but they have wins over VCU, North Carolina, Clemson and @ NC State. Either way there will be some good quality teams playing on the first Tuesday.

Wake is up to #36 on kenpom after their 19 point win over Miami last night. Think that ranking will take a bit of a nosedive after they lose to #76 NCSU on Saturday.

Bacon had a rare off night vs ND, but has definitely outplayed thus far Isaac this season.
