I have to say, I am very excited about seeing the Longhorns come to Morgantown! When WVU entered the Big 12, it was contests like this that got my fire burning again.

The BE had died for me after the loss of VT, Miami and BC. Outside of Pitt, I could not get fired up for the regular slate of UConn, Cincy, USF or the others.

Texas is undefeated in conference play. They are riding a wave, and Greg Robinson has made an impact with their defense.

This will be the first and likely only night game at MPS for the season. The WVU fans have been asked to Stripe The Stadium. I am not sure how that will look at night, but it will add to the atmosphere.

WVU goes into the contest as 8 pt dogs…

Can't wait to head to Morgantown for this game!

It was mentioned on Twitter this weekend that Luck interviewed in Austin last week… Friday?… and has emerged as the leading candidate for the AD opening.

There are likely to be several reporters pushing for an interview this week.

Makes for an interesting side story…

I too am excited to see Texas come to town, hopefully we see a good game. I hope to see Sims carrying the load. Get him the ball and we may win, keep throwing long for the home run every down, and we lose.

RT @MarkRosnerAAS #Longhorn QB David Ash had more concussion symptoms last week, and he'll miss the West Virginia game

We have to stop McCoy from having a big day....Ash being out makes it easier for our defense to focus on one guy.

I look at Texas a lot like Oklahoma before they made their switch at QB. They are going to want to run the ball(avg 203 yards per game) and play defense against our offense. They have not had a great game passing this season, hope we do not turn McCoy into his older brother on Saturday.

McCoy has statistics similar to Trickett with 5 TD's and 5 INT's. He has a better completion percentage.

I am sure our secondary will help improve his statistics.

McCoy has a funny throwing action.

Having Rose play DE last week was huge. The kid had a great game. But, tipping the ball set up the first TO. Maybe he gives McCoy some problems Saturday night.

We are only an 8 point underdog???? surprising

wasn't it 14 points against TCU? or does home field advantage give us some points - since it was we beat OSU at home.

They say home field is about a three point advantage

I think the three point home advantage is a NFL spread guideline.

I'm with you man… I thought the spread would be at least 14 points. WVU was a 19.5 dog to Okie St at home. The TT game started at around 8, then fell to 5.5 by Saturday… many experts were picking WVU in an upset.

Hard for me to get a read on Texas. They have been averaging around 30+ pts/gm in Big 12 play. They played and beat two common opponents WVU lost to… KSU and OU.

Hopefully the defense will force some 3 and outs, and make some big plays. The crowd seems to get really pumped when the defense is doing well… like in the Okie St game.

I like our chances playing against McCoy. Our run defense will be tested. Texas is not getting the respect after their first two losses. They are vulnerable and may fall victim in Morgantown.

We have to avoid the meltdowns. Both of these teams show they can play great and play horrible.

Last year's success against Texas was a result of WVU's offensive line creating huge gaps for Buie. Some of this was a result of what Texas did with their DE's last year, but make no mistake… Texas did not handle WVU's rushing attack.

Prior to Mack Brown's firing of Manny Diaz as the DC this year, Texas was having difficulty stopping the rushing attacks of BYU and Ole Miss…. giving up 550 and 272 respectively.

Enter Greg Robinson…

Since he took over, the rushing defense has seen quite the improvement. Of course outside of OU, the competition has not been stellar, but only ISU has gained over 200 yds. The defense held OU to 130, TCU to 45 and KU to 140.

Texas' front 4 is getting pressure on the QB. Of the defense's 20 sacks, 16 have come from the DL. Of the 58 tackles for loss, 39 have come from the DL.

Sacks have accounted for 49% of UT's TFL.

There has been discussion on here about the improvement of WVU's offense. I think this weekend will be a huge test!

After looking at Texas' improvement… I really wish WVU was still in the AAC. How much better I would enjoy WVU's offense getting big-time production against SMU. I could brag to everyone about how dominant my team looked.

Everyone knows the Big 12 is really weak this year…

Texas will bring a strong running game to Morgantown. They are averaging over 200 yds per game for a ranking of #29. They have a pretty balanced attack as they're passing for 243 yds/gm.

IMO, their attack will look like KSU. And, we all saw how effective KSU looked in the 2nd half against WVU.

How will WVU respond?

Will Patterson bring pressure like he did against TCU starting in the 2nd qtr? The soft zone did not work against KSU… was not working against TCU in the first qtr.

McCoy has had some trouble with TO's. There were 2 against KU last week.

Hopefully, the defense can create some of these… as they did last week. The crowd will be juiced, and nothing gets them revved up more than the defense doing something spectacular.
