Call me pushy, but I think this injury deserves it's own thread.

Sure sounds like Teddy has one hell of a road ahead of him to recover. Sounds like 12-18 months recovery based on some reports this morning. Could be a 2-season injury. But based on some reports, it could have been much, much worse....one report even saying that if the athletic trainers hadn't acted as quickly as they did, he could have lost his leg. I just feel for the kid. I obviously hope he's able to lead this team at some point, but mostly I just hope he has a functioning leg moving forward.

Source confirms tibiofemoral dislocation, ruptured ACL for Bridgewater. "Trainers may have saved his leg and career by quick action."

Tibiofemoral dislocation ... basically, Bridgewater's femur (upper leg) went off the tibia (shin, lower leg.) Yeah.

For the record, I think they can replace the type of production they got at the QB position last year. But that isn't my impression of what the offense was going to look like this year, assuming improved pass protection. I do think they can still win enough games to be in the playoff hunt similar to last year just based on the running game and defense. But there's no solution to taking the next step forward like most expected.

But to be in the playoff hunt, they are going to need to believe what Zimmer was preaching yesterday....they can't mope and they still have to believe in the team. That could be pretty difficult this close to the season.

How does that shit happen to an elite athlete who's not been hit by another player?

Bodes poorly for the rest of us schlubs.

If I had to place a guess on what they plan to do for this year, it'd be that they'll roll with Hill for now, try to get a veteran either through trade or someone that gets released this weekend, and then evaluate between Hill and the veteran once he learns the system.

Then probably spend decent money on an insurance policy in FA next year assuming Teddy won't be ready to start the season next year.

Yeah that's what happened to me only I was wearing a knee brace so somehow all my ligs remained intact. Small mercies...

Really devastated this happened - partially for Teddy and partially for us. I hope whatever happens he's able to walk freely in the future.

5 Stages of Grief:

1) Denial -- Spent yesterday afternoon at the fair after finding out and pretended it didn't happen. Ate and drank like I hadn't had any Vikings news at all.
2) Anger -- Spent last night texting my brother/dad/cousin things like, "FUCK! FUCKITY FUCK FUCK FUCK!"
3) Bargaining -- Today I'm convincing myself that Hill or some other veteran can provide the leadership and competent QB play this season.
4) Depression -- I expect this will set in next weekend as I'm getting ready to watch Game 1.
5) Acceptance -- With any hope, I'll move into this stage sometime in the next couple months.

I bet Nick Foles is really kicking himself for not courting the Vikings (if the interest was indeed there from the team).

Nice work. Mind if I copy and paste this and send it to my daughter for her psych class?

What were you doing to dislocate it? Dropping back to pass?

knee and Achilles injuries terrify me for this reason. I don't feel like there is any good way to protect yourself from them.

A guy I know who bikes hundreds of miles each month had a heart attack while biking last weekend. The body has a mind of it's own. No explaining it a lot of times.

My brother had a heart attack and he's like 170. I'm like 250, and have a healthy heart. Turns out, he was eating 2 -3 McDoubles at McDonalds every day.

Who knew?

Pro athletes are like high performance race cars, they break easily and can't run until after expensive repairs are done.

Us average people are like Fords and Chevys, we squeak, have an unwanted shake or shimmy, don't quite purr anymore when running, but apply a little duck tape and we just keep plugging along.
