OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — The Omaha Beef have a job waiting for Tim Tebow if he wants it — and the Nebraska indoor football team will even pay him $75 a game.

A day after Tebow was cut by the New York Jets, the Beef called the office of Tebow agent Jimmy Sexton to offer a standard player contract. Beef assistant general manager Andrew Mather said Tuesday that he doesn't expect to hear back, but he thought it was worth asking.

OH CANADA?: CFL might not be so easy

BELL: Tebow may not like his options

The Beef's current quarterback, James McNear, has led the team to a 5-1 start. He's completing 70 percent of his passes and has thrown for 21 touchdowns against just two interceptions.

McNear is anything but insulted by the Beef's wooing of Tebow. McNear said, "I think Tim can learn a lot from me."

He should take it. This looks like a big year for the Beef.

Current QB, Ryan Leaf will be looking for another record breaking year. His backup is expected to be Rex Grossman. Running back Issac Cowell will be leading the rushing game again. The wideouts are expected to be Terrell Owens and Usain Bolt has just signed a rookie contract.

On defense, Brian Bosworth is making a comeback and the defensive backfield will be lead by Adam "Pacman" Jones.

T.O. doesn't plan on ending his NFL career either but....

choice isn't always up to the player.

They'd be overpaying him at $75 a game.

Honestly why has this guy gotten such a bad name. I would be surprised if someone doesnt give him a shot in some capacity in the NFL

Because despite the fact that he's laughably bad at QB, he has refused multiple times to consider letting teams use him in any other role.

Name another QB who was a punt protector.

The guy won games. He should have been gven a chance last year. Im not saying he is the next Marino but he can fit a role and contribute

Valid point but by another role I mean to concede QB. He was a punt protector for the gimmick plays that came with it.

Denver was one of few places with the pieces to run that offense, and teams hadn't seen it before. If they didn't get a significantly better option handed to them, he likely would have had a shot. But you don't pass up Peyton. Tebow was not better in new york's offensive system than Sanchez, because you have to actually be able to throw. That's why no shot there.

As for why he doesn't get another shot, look at the patriots playoff game. It demonstrates how even a very bad defense can schematically shut him completely down. The offense isn't sustainable and Tebow doesn't have the arm to run a different one.
