I know you can't understand this but I'll try to explain anyway. Higher standards means that we aren't okay with mediocrity. If our team sucks, we don't accept moral victories. We accept ACTUAL victories. +1 in the W column. Noone stops rooting for the Yankees or Red Sox if they aren't successful, but there's no denying the truth that with the rich history of the Yankees, missing the playoffs 3 out of the last 4 years is not good enough.

This doesn't mean anything. If the Yankees go 10 years without going to the playoffs, how will you respond? You have no control over anything other than your rooting interest.

And the Yankees went better than a decade without any kind of success - You weren't around in the 80s and early 90s. The Red Sox run of futility was legendary. You really know nothing about baseball.

I was around in the 90s. Yankees did nothing til 95 then they went on a tear. Winning 4 championships in 5 years. Yankees fans were spoiled in the late 90s early 00s with all their success. Winning 2 playoff series in 7 years is not good enough for Yankees fans. If the Yankees go 10 years again without going to the playoffs, I'll be pissed and I'll make sure fellow Yankees fans know about it. But that in no way means that I will drop them. Once you root for a team, you can't just drop them. No matter how bad they do for however long they are bad for.

So, 'making sure you tell fellow Yankee fans about' your displeasure with the franchise is how you hold the team accountable? I mean, isn't that the exact same thing that goes on around here?

Ravens "below average" this season? Me thinks not...But hey, give us a call when you win a playoff game....

Just want to mark this so I can come back to it after the Browns beat the Ravens today.

No. Its totally different.
We are just too stupid to understand because we like teams that don't win. Fans of teams that win a lot are much smarter than other people.

See, this is what happens when the Bengals are horrible. You start rooting for the Browns. Just shoot me.

What can I say? The Ravens win against the Bengals wasn't exactly impressive and the Browns showed some promise against the Steelers. So I took my shot.

Um....I'd say the defensive was pretty damn impressive. And that carried over to week 2...

Not really.

I mean, it's not like they were facing a real NFL offense out there.

And it will carry over until tomorrow as well, when they play another lousy football team. Fortunately, they get to play lousy teams all damn year. It doesn't mean they're anything other than a one and done playoff team.

Lets see how they look in a few weeks at Oakland.

LOL!! Nevermind.... I guess Jacksonville is too much for B-More.

Glad the Ravens got to play two crappy Ohio teams in weeks 1 and 2. At least there fans could enjoy most of September before figuring out they suck.

I've noticed in all these close games PacMan commits some penalty at the end that basically keeps us from winning. he's the pete rose of the bengals.

Even if they tank, you have to be worse than several other teams. Not sure that can be the case, especially with this defense.

Exactly. This team has too many good players to properly tank. I still think they win just enough (while still being extremely mediocre) that Mikey will justify trying to keep Marvin around. I hope I'm wrong.

Yeah.... I figure they'll probably win between 4 and 7 games. Just enough to really piss everyone off.

we have to have a meaningless late season surge so that we can talk about how we've "turned things around".

Sad thing is...it could happen.

Just a small improvement in the OL could push them to a win or 2 down the stretch. Doubtful, but you never know. LOL
