Word is getting around that Dan is taking Ben very serious and wants a QB in this draft...but 30 I think maybe Webb will be there....if any of the top 4 starting falling, someone will trade up and get him before 30.

Yeah I think it's more "if one falls" type of a deal. I think they like Kizer and would take him at 30. Not sure about Webb.

Dan had been thru this before with their last franchise QB who I won't mention by name due to his recent asshatery and probably doesn't want to get caught with their pants down again!

I've heard that about Kizer...if he did drop and was on the board at 30 and ANY of the edge rushers were still on the board...then we know this was a Rooney draft pick. On the kid, I've heard the good and the bad...I have no opinion on him aside from he has the size they like in the AFCN.

Yep. And I get planning for the future with Ben. I'm not convinced that he won't play another 4-5 years though and REALLY don't want them hurting their chances to win a title or two while he's still here. Titles are hard to come by. If you have a shot you take it and deal with the consequences later.

My thoughts on drafting a QB...the best course of action right now for the Steelers is to put the best cast they can around whomever this future QB pick might be. So...in this draft, if a quality player is on the board, it's crucial to cover their edge need and their slot defender need.

The way the team is constructed right now, Ben makes up for some of the deficiencies they have now by playing great on 3rd down, keeping drives alive, etc. With a young QB at the helm, they will need the cast to make up for the deficiencies of the QB in order to stay competitive. We're not talk about Dak, RW, or Jimmy G in the same way if they were on teams with a lessor cast.

Ben...idk I still think his retirement talk was sending a message to his teammates, namely AB. At the same time things are lining up in his life to the degree that I don't expect him to play beyond this contract...his kids are getting older now, maybe he wants to invest a lot more time with them. I think if the Steelers win a SB '17-'19, he will be done.

Highly doubt he falls to them in the 2nd. Would be a phenomenal pickup if he did, and clearly someone they couldn't pass up in that spot. Saw a mock over at BTSC that had the Steelers grabbing him in the 2nd and the author even admitted that the value was just too absurdly high to pass on even though he wanted an edge guy after taking a TE in Rd 1.
