Well seeing as how 1995 helped save the team I think we can establish that it takes 18 years before ownership has to care. (1977-1995). And Seattle hasn't made the playoffs since 2001. So 2018-2001=17. SO NEXT YEAR is when we made are playoff push RIGHT???:noidea:

Weren't they on their 3rd onwershop group then? When the short lived Nintendo sports owned the team for a few years they put in good resources but once they handed it over to the one dude who just died then he gave it to Howard Lincoln it spiraled with the horrible way they negotiated with Randy and Junior then the debacle of trying to give ARod a 3 year deal plus refusing to deal guys from one of the top rated farm systems in baseball. Putting a guy in charge who doesn't actually sign the checks doesn't have the incentive to win as oppose to just turning a profit to keep his job. Howard Lincoln the CEO was a massive success, Howard Lincoln running a franchise was a massive failure. Not one WS appearance when he had 4 HOF guys on his squad for 3 solid seasons.

"Short-lived"? They had a share of ownership for almost a quarter century! Probably only felt like little time because they didn't even bother watching the games...

Truth is, none of these idiots we had in the office cared about productivity, not so long as they have players they believe could help fill the seats, and even there, it was no easy task most of the time. When attendance dipped dramatically, they'd try to devise a new gimmick.

They pretty much destroyed the team after Piniella left, and it'll take more than just a couple of seasons to pull an actual rebuild, but you have to have people who are able to do a rebuild in the first place, not just some slackers who can't even do that with a set of LEGOs.
