Hoping the Mariners won't be hesitant to ditch Gallardo and call up Miranda (or whoever) if he puts up numbers like this over the first couple months of the season. I'm really not looking forward to seeing this guy start every fifth game.

Agree with you. Will be tough to swallow that $10 million though.

I have been pretty convinced Gallardo is going to be dogshit for awhile now. Always hoping for the best but I just don't see it, he got mashed today.

Watching the game today, Kingston (the assistant GM) said they tried to get Pazos a couple years ago in the Ackley deal. They have liked him for years even with the old management group. Funny how that holds over from another regime.

Rarely does any arm or shoulder news end well for starter. It's like the norm nowadays. Pretty much expect the worst and hope for the best. Dang I was real bullish on him

My biggest worry when I heard he was going to pitch in the WBC. Maybe it had nothing to do with it, but the routine changes and I think his pitch count was high vs what it would have been in a spring game...and more stressful.

Definitely not news we wanted to hear on Smyly, but the presence of Miranda allows us to swallow one of these, in my opinion, without losing much.

My first thought for a replacement for Smyly, should the Mariners need to make that move, is Miranda. They sent him down so that he could be part of that minor league starting depth and if Smyly can't go right away, it makes sense that Miranda would be the guy to fill-in for him. I'm still hoping that this is temporary and maybe just a case of dead arm, but in case it isn't, putting Miranda on the 25-man roster to start the season is the obvious choice, isn't it?

What's this now, his third time with the Mariners? Fourth time? I can't keep up. He always leaves, falls on his face, comes back and rebuilds his value, then leaves and falls on his face again.
