Spring Games/O's vs D's/or/1's vs 2's

I'm really tired of that funky scoring system most teams have gone to and having Offense vs Defense, and giving the Defense points for certain things.

Why not just line up your 1st string Offense and Defense and play the 2nd string Offense and Defense??
What ever happened to that concept. You know, an actual game.

Am I way off on this.
What's the preference?

That's what we do at Alabama. I didn't realize it was different elsewhere.

The loser of our spring game has to eat beans for dinner and the winners get steak.

It's pretty much like a regular game, except Saban stands in the middle of the field yelling at everyone who fucks up.

Nebraska just divides up 2 teams. There are 1st and 2nd stringers on both sidelines.

At Bama it is Crimson vs White. The Crimson team is usually made up of the 1st team offense and the 2nd team defense. And the White team is made up of The 2nd team offense and 1st team defense. That way its ones vs ones and twos vs twos.

not sure how Texas will do it this year. Mack did it where defense scores for stops, turnovers, etc. Never really kept track of it.

You know, now that I think about it I think that's the way Nebraska does it.

Sometimes it's confusing because there's open spots from graduation and players are competing for positions. i.e. Not a clear starter.

Oregon does draft style. O coordinator vs D coordinator draft various coaches from both sides of the ball.
So Green staff may be O coordinator with QB coach, O line coach LB Coach vs D coordinator with WR coach D line coach DB coach
then they "Draft" each position. QB first so who ever wins toss will likely take Mariota then the other will pick, Lockie, then to Rodriguez, Hobs, Ali, Maholik til that position is done. then on to RB. and so on.

No spring game for A&M this year. I always went because it was $5 ticket and they had autograph sessions before the game. Where I got a lot of stuff signed by former coaches and players. But somebody, you know who, screwed all of that up and now they just sign cards.

1s and 2s vs armchair asshole fans that think they are better than the players and coaches on their team and boo and curse and say horrible shit to college kids.

Oregon spring game costs 2 cans of food for the food bank. honors local military fire and police. players give spring game jersey to one of them after game.
