This spring several players have started to make an impact on the field.

Lawrence Thomas, sophomore seems to finally have found a home at defensive tackle. He looked very good this spring and adds depth to a strong DL.

Riley Bullough, red shirt freshman moved to running back after the rest of the RB's failed to impress the coaches and move toward becoming a starter. Bullough has looked good at RB and will probably challenge for a starting spot. Two incoming freshman may make some noise but I'm guessing the job is Bullough's to lose.

Shilique Calhoun, sophomore defensive end. Will Gholston's successor was selected ahead of two-year starter and former freshman All-America Marcus Rush in the Green n White game draft. Rush is good. Rush is solid. Rush's pass rush numbers have leveled off a bit in the last season and a half, but Calhoun is just getting started, after a loud bowl game and 15 pounds of weight gain. Calhoun has been a stock-on-the-rise guy for more than two years and he shows no sign of leveling off.

A.J. Troup, sophomore walk-on wide receiver. MSU needed someone to step up at the WR position this spring, but no one thought it would be Troup. I expected Monty Madaris to be that guy this spring, but Troup's three TD catches in the scrimmages, and Maxwell made Troup the first WR selected in the Green-n-White game draft.

The defense looked good in the Green n White game. The offense looked better than last year's group but they had nowhere to go but up. :laugh3:
