Carleton College just beat UNC-Wilmington for the D1 national title in ultimate frisbee over the weekend.

This thread is talking about sports that no one else cares about, right?

My son tried to join the Quidditch Team at his University, but it seemed to be a who you know group in order to play.

I did ask him if he actually ran around the field with a broom between his legs?

Maybe he would have made it on the team if you were on the team when you were in college.

ESPN plays Math Bees, Spelling Bees, and Poker on it's channels; does that make them sports?
didn't say it wasn't a sport. just not an NCAA sport.

I'm not too worried about meat judging natties.

It's ironic that you would make fun of our natties in this thread, seeing as how we have 10 of them in golf. The move to match play likely cost us a couple-otherewise we'd be approaching as many in the sport being talked about in this thread as you guys have across all sports.

I honestly couldn't care less about a nattie in golf either.

sorry, you know the Big 12 doesn't do that "team big12" thing. Ducks going for back to back, although their win against us was tainted last year.
True but that is only because half your conference is new every 5 years...

tainted? how do you figure? 3-2 extra holes. the fact they are playing for it again tells you it wasn't no fluke. Oregon won get over it.

Our best player got hurt in the semi finals, and per some weird rule UT wasn't allowed to replace him in the line up so the ducks started the championship up 1-0. It's such a bad rule they of course changed it after the fact.

ah forgot about that. I still wouldn't call it tainted but yeah Oregon got a bit lucky there. but who knows how that would have played out.

Texas players have a tendency of getting injured around the Natties, don't they?

And the Sooners ad there 4th National Champions, so far this year. Now we just need the Softball and Baseball to step up and it's a great summer for the Sooners

I'm old school. I hate that format.

I agree. Not to take anything away from the booger eaters performance today but it really adds a luck element to the championship. Over multiple days of stroke play top teams can overcome a couple of bad rounds. They happen at the same time now and a team that has dominated stroke play during the season gets bounced.
