With the exception of some of the old Looney Tunes and Popeyes I think any of the shows mentioned here could still be made.

The network could come up with a new version of All in the Family, but it now way shape or form would it be allowed to follow the same format as the original.

I'm curious as to why not? All in the Family was designed to laugh AT Archie, why would today's execs have a problem with people laughing at a white man?

I agree.

A prime time show designed to laugh at an exaggerated conservative? Let the bidding war begin.

All of them? They pretty much all have white casts dominating every role and a portrayal of women that wouldn't stand up today.

Compare something like Who Framed Roger Rabbit to something like Lego Movie. Its night and day.

But why would they bother.

The real thing was perfect as it was.

I can't even quote some of the best jokes Archie had at places like this.

Like the episode where Jim Bowman down the street was trying to sell his house on the sly, to presumably "persons of colour".

So Archie starts circulating a petition, Henry Jefferson finds out and all hell breaks lose till it is discovered the new owners may in fact be Puerto Ricans.

"it's a question of looking out for number 1!"

But who is number 1? Number 2? 3A and 3B?

I laughed my ass off so many times at the show first time out and in reruns I could easily recite near entire shows.

No way on earth would a new "sanitized" version ever compare today.

Soap was pretty cutting edge. They dealt with homosexuality, transgender, race...

That show was very funny, but it's hard to claim that it wouldn't be on TV today because of PC madness.

I'd be more inclined to call it ground breaking. What was once risque is now de rigueur.
