Wasn't it Richardson that said he wanted $15M per? I wonder how much less he took from Minn.

Seattle could sign a guy like Suh to replace him and still not lose the 3rd or 4th rd pick from losing Sheldon Richardson.

Huge pickup. That front 4 is going to wreak even more havoc than they did last year.

That's my concern.

Usually the "winner" of the offseason is near the top of the most disappointing seasons list they put out in December.

Most of it depends on Griffin.

He was a stud through the first 12 games or so but developed plantar fasciitis and was a shell of his former self by the time the playoffs rolled around and the defense suffered for it. And that isn't a condition that always just goes away by the start of the following season.

With Hunter an impending FA, Griffin's health/age and Robison's age, I wouldn't be shocked if the Vikes try to find another young outside rusher in the early/middle part of the draft.

It's a 1 year prove it deal for a free agent. Sheldon played GOOD for Seattle but not elite (or really that close to it, it was above average play). He was nowhere CLOSE to getting a 5 year $75M ($15M per which is what he wanted) contract. Likely the thought is, go play for Minnesota who along with Philly are the favorites in the NFC, play for a great defense, likely do well, go deep playoffs or possible Super Bowl, and then hit free agency again and go to the highest bidder, get a fat/happy contract on a mediocre team, and probably disappear into oblivion (given motivational issues before).

It's an easy A+ signing for the Vikings. They're getting a solid DT who will be extremely motivated given his supporting cast/Super Bowl chance and most of all the fat contract he's playing for that nobody was going to give him this year.

As for Seattle, the only way I considered the trade for Richardson worthwhile was if we signed him long term given he was 26 upon acquisition. Considering that we didn't, it's a complete failure of a trade as Seattle is now in semi rebuild with absolutely no draft ammo.

No draft ammo this year, no cap ammo this year. Next year that all changes.
