What a dud. 0-3 so far and today gives up 6 in the first and we aren't out of it yet.

Tommy Milone needs to be back in the rotation in place of this jobber.

BB was 50/50 on that trade, as far as who we got. Trade Hammel & Callespo to SF. Bring back TM & go get an everyday 2nd base with a bat.

Mamba, what's your guess on Hammel & his A's future (based on the recent failures)? I wonder if BB can/will move him by tomorrow & replace him with Milone or Lester or other? :noidea:

I hope so. My buddy that is pretty deep in to the know for Oakland thinks they are going to try and move him.

He also truly Believes Oakland will be a major contender for Lester. He said Lester is going to likely sign with Boston next year anyways so he is a rental player through October. He thinks Boston isn't going to get near what they think they will for him. They have some guys at. Midland that may be in the talks for Lester.

I really don't have a guess on Hammel, but I would put Milone or Pom in his spot like yesterday.

How is Pom's hand anyways?

Now that he has dropped on the depth chart, haven't heard anything. I know he came off the DL, so he must be in SAC.

I don't get it with hammel. He was lights out for the cubs in almost every start and now this.

Better him struggle than Shark I guess is how I'd look at it from an A's fan.

Hammel was very lucky to get out of his game against the Rays with no runs allowed (7 hits and 4 walks in just 5.2 IP, only 2 K's). He looked a lot better today, unfortunately, the Twins blew the game open against the bullpen.

Pomeranz is 3-1 over 8 starts with a 3.69 ERA for the Rivercats. He's also striking out better than a batter per inning.

And starting today for the A's. Before his last start Pomeranz had a 2.88 ERA with the Rivercats and "had been focusing on pitching deeper into games". I would love to see him have a great start for us today and possibly win back a rotation spot.

Don't look now, but Hammel is 2-1 with a 2.45 ERA over his last 6 starts (dating back to August 5th). Yes, that includes his terrible outing on August 15th in which he lasted only 3 innings and gave up 5 earned runs.

This good stretch has dropped Hammel's ERA with Oakland down to 4.70, which really speaks to how bad he was in his first 4 starts with us.

The only concerning stats I notice in his line over those last 6 starts are his BABIP, which rests at a well below average .216, and 6 HRs given up during that time. Hopefully he can find a way to sustain the good performance.
