Doesn't West Virginia have to replace a QB???
Yes but we have a better QB on deck than we had last year (Grier) Just hired back the QB/OC from Cal that we had with Geno Smith (Spavital) and Wickline takes over Oline so... our offense should be at minimum good with a chance to be REALLY good barring injuries etc. I think we will be fine on that side of the ball.

A quarterback is the least of oregon's concerns. They need a defense. Saying QB is their weakness is like saying 'ah fuck, better change my brake pads, think I heard them squeak last week' when your car wont start.

Texas true freshman QB looked pretty good, this year. I'm not sure how he will fit in with the type of offense Herman likes to run. He can scramble plus Herman has shown, he can take a 2 star QB and make him play within the system and win games. The kid has a arm, so now he just needs to learn the option. I think Texas just like OU, needs to worry about the RB more then there QB.

Duck's QB is legit, but he wasn't their problem last year. That defense was beyond bad. Their offense really wasn't nearly as terrible as some might think.

Herbert is no Darnold, but he's the best QB they have had since Mariota and has all of the tools necessary to run their brand of football at a high level.

The problem is the ducks haven't finished filling in all of their staff yet, more or less do we know what changes they are bringing and how well he fits in their new direction. As well as the other pieces around them. Teams in transition are hard to evaluate this far out of even spring ball, more or less fall camp.

They're getting the Florida quitter Will Grier.

Lotta buzz...but no real meat on the bone. Dana can coach up a QB though. Hope he doesn't get the kid hooked on Red Bull.

Texas had a true freshman at QB. And no way you could say he was the weak link.

Or at least the sole weak link. There were plenty of weak links to go around.

And I believe he will have some good competition next year.

Hopefully Brandon Peters is godlike? :noidea: He was a high 4* borderline 5*

You're forgetting about McCaffery. Got downgraded from a 5* to a 4* after his senior season tape came out, but he's B1G ready in terms of size.

Speight wasn't terrible this year, especially for a first year Sophomore starter. He did pretty well actually until he injured his shoulder a couple weeks before OSU. No one was complaining about Speight when he lead us to a 49-10 victory over now top 10 PSU.

With that said, if our coach does find issue with how Speight is performing uninjured we have plenty of potential talent behind him.

We have Brandon Peters, who redshirted this year, who was the #61 player in the country last year. And incoming we have Dylan McCaffrey who is the #51 player in the country this year. Odds are at least one of those guys is pretty good.

For me it's not who's going to be our QB, it's who's going to be the RB capable of getting that 4-5 yards we need to finish out a game like OSU or Iowa.

Michigan might.

But they lost an entire defense. So it doesn't much matter.
I don't think the defense is going to retain it's #1 status, but I would expect it still lands in the top 25. We have an incredibly experienced line coming back with a ton of talent on it. The line should be Maurice Hurst, Bryan Mone, Chase Winovich and Rashan Gary. All those guys rotated in and played a huge amount of time this year. The drop off should be minimal on the line. I'm hoping we can get Clark for a 6th year, which would give us some senior talent in the secondary. Otherwise, that's going to be the weak point. Both CB's will likely be sophomores, but both extremely talented and did play this year - long and hill.

1. Nebraska
2. Michigan
3. Texas
4. Oregon

All were the weak link last year.
3 of those teams could be somebody next year if they do.

yes, yes we do. However, best case scenario he Red shirts. Have to pickup a JUCO or grad transfer for depth. Right, now, it's a true soph and a true frosh as candidates.

Unless one of the projects, such as Matthew Merrick, miraculously explodes on the scene.

Will trade 4 star QB's for linemen.
Oregon started Justin Herbert halfway through the season. He was a true freshman but he showed a lot of promise. Big kid with a strong arm.

He wore down late. Texas had a great season. First half saw the offense look excellent and the defense fall apart. The second half saw the defense fix most of its issues and the offense wear down. Buechele looked solid, but it's telling that nobody is read to anoint him. QB won't be a disaster anymore, but I am not sure it will be a strength. OL should be damn good.

Texas has Tom Herman. If anyone should be happy right now it should be the bevos.
