after a career year, the front office decides that it was time to part ways. What the fuck.

Interesting....
Walker has a lot of potential but is extremely inconsistent and has shown to be a complete headcase at times. Marte could turn out to be pretty good too after he gets some more experience. Time will tell on this trade.

I wish Jean the best. He's a good guy and you guys got a pure hitter.

Over 200 hit, 26 years old. The front office looks at that and is like nah... he's not good enough

If he's so good then why did the Brewers trade him to Arizona?
He's 26 years old and has shown tremendous potential. I think the death of his young son derailed him in Milwaukee. He needed a new home and became a fan favorite in AZ and immediately had the best season if his career. I'm just struggling to see the mindset behind this move.

Segura will probably regress next year anyway. Steamer projects him to hit .284/.326/.414 (92 wRC+). Still an OK player, but a far cry from the 126 wRC+ he had in 2016. Projects him to go from being a 5~ WAR player in 2016 to about 2 (which is average).

I thought Walker was going to have a breakout 2016, but he had a lot of longball issues this season.

Segura was a lock to be traded this offseason. He has only 2 years of control left & is looking at $17-20 mil combined over those two seasons. As great as he was in 2016, he is due for some regression. Combine that with the fact that Owings & Drury can both handle 2B & need ABS, selling high on Segura was a no-brainer. I think that combo at 2B will put up similar production to Segura.

Idk what to think of this trade. Segura was amazing last season. Walker has accomplished nothing in his career yet. No reason to expect him to be any better than Bradley or Ray next season. Young, unproven pitcher that is all potential. The sad thing is that I liked Segura dramatically better than any of the other middle infielders on the team like Owings, Ahmed, and Gosselin.
