I'll take 5/$70 million for Segura. The guy's a hitting machine.

ooops I was incorrect earlier about how many arb years he had left. my bad.

No biggie. I like the 6th year option for $17M. That might be a bargain.

Great move to lock up talent at a premium position while Cano and Cruz may be starting to crest toward the backside of their careers.

Honestly I thought it would be north of $100M

And to think, I was kind of bummed we sat pat last year instead of pulling the trigger on Cozart. Don't get me wrong, Cozart is playing lights out right now, but he's also one year younger than Segura will be at the end of this new contract. We have to go young at this point, and just enjoy the Cano & Cruz of the world on their farewell tour.

I think Robbie might have whispered in his ear a little, maybe telling him they are a year or two from contending.......

When I saw that they were nearing an extension I would've expected something like $110-120m over 6 years. Hell of a great deal for a shortstop who is leading the AL in batting average.

No fuckin' kidding. Also the trade landed us Mitch Haniger who was playing lights out before the injury.

Exactly! I think a lot of us would be praising JeDi had he made that move in the event that Cozart not only gets us into the playoffs last year, but returns this year in the fashion that he has. That being said, the best trade from all of this was the one we didn't make last year. Goes to show he has an eye for talent cause both would have been a significant upgrade, but the one we did make was full blown highway robbery Adam Jones style.
