the SEC can schedule like Baylor and still make the playoff. Why, because they are the SEC, they play such a tough conference schedule that the other 4 games do not really matter anyway.

Last year the SEC had the most quality OOC P5 opponents of all the conferences with 8 P5 teams that had records of 9 wins or more.

Twice as many as the Big12 who had only 4.

So exactly what are you crying about?

SEC has 4 more teams and schedules were made long before last year. Not a bad stat, but more luck than done by design.

Remember 20 Open is not a college. :lol:It means there is no game that week. After two cream puffs, we play a B10 team and then have 9 straight conference games. most SEC teams have 3 cream puffs on the slate, many have 4. Two conference wins gan get a SEC team into a bowl game. while you pull the fact that 5 more good P5 teams played the SEC, that is not as much as each SEC team playing another conference game.

Face it SEC schedule allows teams to choose poor opponents. There are some good yearly rivalries but the sec plays more non P5 teams than any other conference. It got SEC teams into the BCS routinely and champs are most likely to make the playoff.mmif it works, why change it.

They are delusional around these parts and just want to blame the SEC for everything.

Most likely this entire thing was setup on purpose by ESPN in order to make the SEC look better than it really is.

I don't have a beef with having only one P5 OOC opponemt as long as pretty much everyone is doing it but I'd like to see pretty much everyone go to all P5 OOC games.
Until that happens if I'm irritated by anyone it's the Big12 for not adopting some of the SEC's policy of scheduling one of the "easy" games later in the season to break up the brutal conference game stretches. We could have benefitted with a Towsen game between TCU and Texas last season.

This was not a SEV vs Big 12 post...my point was the selection committee has not really fixed anything since they are counting one week of play over a whole body of work...was the fact the Bama only played two teams over .500 in conf play(those teams having 3 or 4 built in wins OOC) and a win over Missouri really that more impressive than TCUs body of work...we won't even throw in the fact TCU crushed the team that beat Bama.

I totally agree. The SEC voted last year to maintain an 8 game IC schedule and asked its members to schedule 1 OOC game against a P5 school.

Looking at next year's OOC schedule for the SEC… looks like several schools decided not to put this into effect for awhile.

SEC schools basically play 8-9 games against P5 schools next season. If that is the standard, then Big 12 schools already meet it by playing all 9 members each year.

Someone can point out WVU's OOC schedule for next year… but, they'll play 10 P5 schools. How many SEC schools can say the same?

This is almost funny coming from you. You guys are sure sensitive when somebody mentions the SEC schedule. Do you guys honestly think FSU is going to finish 13-1 next season, let alone some of these other teams? Too sensitive.....and funny.

Let a few of these teams in all these conferences on the bubble and end up missing the playoffs because of schedule strength, THEN you will see some changes.

Not really.

Our first four weeks

Louisville @ Atlanta
Jacksonville State
@LSU
Mississippi State

Your right. Big 12 teams need to follow the SEC model better by scheduling an Idaho team before the last game, but we are too busy playing all the teams in our conference. We didn't you mention your next 2 weeks after Mississippi State? You know, the open date followed by San Jose. The Mountaineers play Oklahoma and Okie St. So what is your point? Amazing how you cut it off after the first 4 games. Freakin funny.
