Seattle is trying to lure NBA & NHL teams with a new $660 million dollar arena. Obviously if the got an NHL team it would likely be an expansion. But what about the NBA? Which team would likely relocate there or is the NBA also considering an expansion?

Take the Kings. Save them from Sacramento. Or the Clippers, they can grow up and not be little brother anymore.

The Clippers should, but they won't. Ballmer promised both of their fans (Billy Crystal and @Mecca) that he wouldn't move them.

If it's an existing team that moves, my guess would be the Kings are the most likely team. Otherwise...expansion.

Didn't the Kings just get a brand new arena though? If so then I doubt they'd be moving anytime soon.

Maybe. I know they've been wanting one and that a few years ago they were looking at moving and got a new arena approved. Not sure if it's been built or not.

Expansion for the NBA I think, Seattle in the West and St.Louis in the East to keep the conferences equal.

You guys probably don't know this because the NBA completely made sure this wasnt made into a big deal but a few years ago the Kings were bought out but Chris Hansen with the intention to move them to seattle. Now when a team is suppose to relocate you have to go through whats called a relocation committee and they vote yay or nay. If you guys don't already know the chairman and leader of the committee is clay Bennett the owner of the thunder and how convenient it was nearly unanimous that they voted no on relocating the kings to Seattle.

So the kings had to be sold back to the original owner so pretty much the only way seattle will get an NBA team will be by expansion because this A hole is the chairman of the relocation committee

With the amount of money the NBA is making, I can easily see a couple of expansion teams in the next five years. Seattle will probably be top of the list.

The amount of current and ex legendary athletes endorsing them will be ridiculous.

It's gonna be expansion. Silver has loosely been hinting that he wants expansion so I see that happening in the next 5 years or so.

But if I were sports czar, it would be the Clippers rebranded as the Sonics. There's no reason for them to be in LA. They have no real roots or history. They just exist.

With the NHL there is an odd number of teams right now so they have to expand and the West is down a team. So with apparently KC pissing off the NHL I would say that Seattle is at the top of the list. Two things working against you for something soon. There seems to be a push to put a team back in Quebec. Two Bettman loves none traditional markets so if he had his way you will see one in Mexico before Seattle.

As far as the NBA I dont follow it much but I havent heard anything about expansion so you would have to move a struggling team and honestly I cant think of one other than the Kings.

St. Louis I dont think can support an NBA team. Maybe now because no Rams but if you arent the MLB Cardinals you have a hard time making money.

The NHL will be in Seattle by 2020 but the NBA won't be coming back to Seattle unless there is a revolt in Seattle.
