They were so excited when the first OTA's and the preseason power rankings came out. Without a single game played, they seemed unusually confident by their unearned pre season ranking.

Now that the season has started, reality will begin to take shape....

Its sad when you drop in the rankings after winning. Must have been unimpressive.

From what I saw this week, the 49ers looked to be, in my opinion, the best team in the NFC.

But, my opinion and 75 cents will only buy the 49ers a can of soda. Won't get them a Super Bowl trip.

They will have to earn that on the field. Not in the power rankings.

One week does not make a season. Seattle went on the road with a 10 a.m. start time (West Coast time of course) where they have struggled in the past and came away with a win. It wasn't the prettiest of wins but they still won. San Fran didn't just blow away the Packers either as really the game was decided by just a couple of plays or calls by the Refs depending who you talk to I guess. I would say I would wait a few more weeks and see especially how this next weekend goes before you start running your mouth.

You mean depending on whether you are talking to butthurt green bay fans or not? No one thinks this game was decided by a ref other than a couple delusional GB fans.

Well that I can agree with you on as Preseason Power Rankings mean jack squat in the real world. I do remember Seattle fans screaming about how the Power Rankings finally showed them the respect that they deserve and all I kept thinking is how have you earned it? One playoff win in which the starting quarterback went down does not earn respect in this league.

I also agree the Refs did not decide this game but a few plays definitely did. First off the penalty that Matthews did get was just a stupid play by him. IT seemed like those late hits cost a few teams in week one. Week 2 here though should be a good test for both teams of Seattle and San Fran. If San Fran can go into Seattle and come away with a win that will definitely earn some major respect around the league. I think they can do it for sure and somewhat hope they do. I lived in Seattle the past couple of years and spent most of that time wanting to punch Seattle fans in the face.

It's one game, and this is not the BCS. These rankings do not mean anything, and they never will. Besides, some of the way they rank the teams just seems arbitrary and without reason.
