A salute to Aggie spirit and those who will gather later tonight in remembrance of the loss of 12 Aggies participating in the hallmark of the incomparable collegiate tradition at Texas A&M University, Bonfire.

Hook 'Em, Ags. Never forgotten. Will never forget.

Classy post. I will never forget all the support we got from UT. We are all Texans first and foremost. Most people think the rivalry ended when we left the B12 but if you ask me, it was never as intense as it was before the Bonfire tragedy.

I'll never forget that week, the game was so emotional. Only time I was ok with a UT loss.

We all may give each other shit and talk smack, but like BTHOtu said, we're all Texans first and foremost. Many families have UT and A&M grads and I still remember the game after that tragedy. So emotional and we held a family prayer right before we sat down for Thanksgiving dinner for the Aggie families that were affected. Can't believe it's already been 15 years......

I will never forget that day, when the news came through. Even in the city that UT calls home, it was THE news, with extended coverage on all the channels.

Mack Brown did a great job of honoring the Aggies, and I thought it permeated throughout the whole team.

And I agree with BTHOtu, the rivalry was never really the same afterward, at least from a Longhorn's perspective.

I was on campus when I heard the news and ran across to get back to my dorm to start making calls. I had several friends who worked on the bonfire, and I knew at least one who was working that tragic shift. He had volunteered to drive one of the women home, but had he not, he would have been right at the top. I still get goosebumps thinking about it.

My Aggie friends all came to our candlelight vigil in Austin. It was a really emotional night. I agree that the rivalry changed after then.

Rivals can show some serious class. One year the damn refs threw a flag on OU before the game started and charged Oklahoma a timeout when the Sooner Schooner came on the field right before kickoff. It was a BS call. Mack Brown ran one play, called a timeout, and then we recommenced trying to kill each other.

That was back when Texas had class.
