Sale to me should have gotten a haul of 3 to 4 top prospects due to his age and contract. Why the fuck would they accept a reliever, albeit a guy with a rocket arm.

Kopech is more than likely going to be a major league starter at some point. Not sure where you're going with that reliever comment.

He projects as a reliever to many. Was a bottom top 100 guy. They did get the top guy but they should have been able to get Devers as well in this trade. They got jobbed 1 or 2 good prospects.

Oh, shit. Yeah, that ship sailed in 2007. In a year, the Red Sox went from cursed, scrappy, anti-Yankee underdogs to Yankees Lite: all the arrogance with a fraction of the success.

They're only jobbed if someone else was willing to pay it. Not sure why the market for a perennial 5-7 WAR pitcher wasn't higher but thats why Im not in baseball.

His upside is worth it.

Stars are worth what teams will pay for them. If nobody is offering 4 good prospects (and obviously nobody was) then he wasn't worth that.

End of day there's only one winner when dealing a superstar and it's whoever gets the superstar.
